According to lawyer John Carpay of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), Bill C-63 is "a full-on frontal assault on free expression, the worst in Canadian history. Full stop."
Some of the very concerning outcomes of this Bill include:
▪ Canadians facing anonymous human rights complaints for something they have said
▪ Canadians being taken before court or punished merely because somebody "fears" they will say something hateful
▪ Canadians facing the possibility of life imprisonment for their expression

To illustrate how far this Bill goes in curtailing free speech, under the “hate crime” provisions, you can be brought before a provincial court, which can deem you a probable offender — someone likely to generate “hate propaganda or hate crime.” You can and will then be outfitted not only with an ankle bracelet, restricted in your movement to your house, and barred from communicating in any manner with whomsoever the commission or court specifies, but will also be rendered subject to the mandatory monitoring of your bodily fluids.
