Canteen Update

A big thank you to the Canteen Committee for their work in sourcing new providers. We will be trialling AJs Bakery in coming weeks and will make a final decision shortly. Please watch Compass for more updates.

OSHC Update

The School Council will be meeting with Team Kids and Their Care tomorrow regarding their proposed tenders for our school’s Before and After School program. Once a decision has been made the community will be informed and a slow but steady transition will begin over the coming weeks. We have been truly fortunate to have Kerry managing our Before and After Care program so effectively over the years and, we are even more fortunate to know that Kerry will join our Inclusion Team in a full- time capacity once the transition to a new provider has been completed. Kerry will also be supporting the school’s “Living off the Land” Kitchen Garden program and will be undertaking training and school visits to see how successful gardens are set up for long term success.

We are hiring!

On that note, we have a position advertised on Recruitment Online for a Kitchen Garden teacher that can collaborate with staff and students to lead this important initiative. If you know someone who would be ideal, please ask them to contact me via the school phone number/email.

NAPLAN reporting in 2023

This year, the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has introduced new standards to NAPLAN reporting. Four proficiency standards will replace the previous 10 numerical bands and national minimum standard used in previous years’ reporting:
Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily. It will be the clear responsibility of schools to ensure these students are provided with the additional support needed to progress satisfactorily, informed by NAPLAN results, other school-based assessment data and teachers’ knowledge of these students.

From Monday 17 July 2023, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) will release individual student results in hard copy, and a series of tailored school and student level reports online via the VCAA Data Service. ACARA will release state and national results on Wednesday 23 August 2023. As soon as they are available, we will send reports home for families to view.

Term 3 Update

Please note that I will be on reduced hours this term to support my return to good health. Ms Amy Tinetti and Ms Casey Gould will continue to be Acting Principal and Acting Assistant Principal on Mondays whilst I am on leave.

With the cooler weather upon us, we are starting to see an increase in numbers of children becoming unwell with sniffles, cough, and sore throat.

If your child is displaying symptoms of being unwell (fever – above 37.9, sore throat, cough,
Runny or stuffy nose, stomach-ache, nausea) please consider if they are well enough to come to school.

Please consider the health and wellbeing of other students and staff.

If your child develops any sign of illness whilst at school, we will request that you or an
adult nominated by you, collect your child from school as soon as possible.

It is also timely to remind your child about hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue. Cough into your elbow, dispose of tissues into a bin, and wash hands regularly with soap and water or use sanitizer.

A reminder also that if your child has vomitting or diarrhoea they must NOT come to school. They must be clear of any symptoms for 24 hours before they can return to school.

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

Let’s work together to stay safe and healthy.
