Hundreds of riders depart Kaiaka Bay Beach Park at the start of the Hale‘iwa Metric Century

It’s here! HBL’s 2022 Hale‘iwa Metric Century Ride!

The 29th Hale‘iwa Metric Century Ride is Sunday, April 24! When was the last time you did a BIG GROUP RIDE? (We’re talking at least 700 riders strong.) When was the last time you BIKED the beautiful NORTH SHORE of O‘ahu? (It’s epic and iconic.) Well, now’s the time! Let’s have fun and celebrate the joy of biking. TOGETHER!

It’s been 3 years since we held this unique and fun event and we’re gearing up to make this edition better than ever! Hurry and sign up during our Hurry Bird registration period and get your flock to join you too. The current $75 rate (less for HBL members) is not going to get any lower!

And, please be proud to know each registration supports your non-profit Hawaii Bicycling League, who advocates every day to make our community a better place for biking. Our bike events are HBL's primary fundraisers.

Packet pickup for the event will be held in Kaka‘ako on Saturday, April 23. Whether you're a *registered rider or not, we are inviting you to come by–check out the new gear & HBL merch, or just to catch up with your bike friends.
*Confirmed ride registrants will be emailed all the special ride details in the coming weeks.

Questions? Contact us at bicycle@HBL.org or call us at 808-735-5756. Sign up now!

HBL WORKSHOP ALERT! New class detected: Intro to E-Bikes

HBL has been hard at work behind the scenes, developing a Hawai‘i-relevant “Intro to E-bikes” course for those looking to learn more about their e-bike, how they can be safe operating their bike on the road, and tips on maintenance. This course will also offer the opportunity to allow adults who don’t own an e-bike (yet) but are interested in finding more about them, the different types available, and how to choose the right one for them. Mahalo to HBL Board Member, Kyle Paredes, for providing his ongoing expertise on the subject matter, and Justin Calvaharo from Ride eBikes Hawaii who is graciously waiving the rental fees for registrants who want to use an e-bike for the workshop (for no charge!).

Find out when this brand new class makes it's debut at HBL.org/workshops.

She has a master’s in Urban Studies and six years of professional transportation planning experience. She founded and was the director of Bike San Antonio in Texas. Lauren Lee | Lauren@HBL.org

LAUREN LEE: HBL Events Marketing & Admin!

One of Lauren’s favorite childhood memories was learning how to ride a bike without training wheels. Once those suckers were off, riding bikes became her favorite thing to do as a child. She would ride wherever and whenever she could. She even tried to go through the drive-thru at Taco Bell (unfortunately they still made her go inside). Until this day, her passion for biking still stands as she spontaneously decided to ride a Biki bike from Waikiki to Kaimuki for her first day of work at HBL.
