Don't miss this month's outrageous comedy from the writer of 'One Man,Two Guvnors'...

From Richard Bean, the writer of One Man Two Guvnors, the award-winning Honeymoon Suite was written for the Royal Court in 2002 and is laced throughout with Bean’s comic genius whilst exploring gritty and moving themes.

Set entirely in a Bridlington hotel suite – the same one in which a couple spend the first night of their honeymoon and to which they return throughout their lives. The couple are seen at different stages in their relationship – in youthful hope, middle-aged disappointment and in maturity with equal regret and acceptance.

Combining outrageous comedy with laugh-out-loud lines and beguiling tenderness this is ‘A superb play ……..Richly funny, deeply sad and displays an Ayckbournian ingenuity" - Daily Telegraph

May 11 - 19th

SUNDAY NIGHTS AT BLT:

FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY in the BLT Theatre Sunday May 13th at 7.45pm

Clueless Theatre presents Debbie Griffiths and Piers Newman in

Directed by Kyle Cluett in 2014 ‘Two’ was performed by Debbie Griffiths and Piers Newman in the BLT bar for 4 nights and won all the bar show accolades at the Sarnies for that year. You now have an opportunity to see this award-winning production for the first time - or again!

Piers is raising money for Children with Cancer by running in this year’s London Marathon. BLT continues to raise funds to renovate our theatre.

Please join us for a one -off charity preview performance prior to a short local tour of ‘Two’ at The Space in Sevenoaks followed by the Brighton, Camden and Edinburgh Festivals.

All proceeds will go to Children with Cancer and the ReBuiLT Campaign.

About the play:

Fourteen characters, two actors, one night in a bar in Northern England. This is the recipe for Jim Cartwright’s ‘Two’. Blended together with a whirlwind of emotion, questionable customer service and unspoken truths. From the landlord and landlady who despise the sight and sound of one another to a shaken (not stirred) cocktail of customers ‘Two’ explores the different types of relationships in society today.

Laugh-out-loud funny, poignantly moving … ‘Two’ takes you on an unforgettable theatrical journey.

From reviews of the 2014 BLT Bar Production:

‘The comedy descending into tragedy and back to hope was handled with absolute ease by the cast and we were swept along with this rollercoaster of emotions’ Spotlights Magazine

‘Two’ was just stunning. One of the best pieces of theatre I have ever seen’ Audience feedback.

Coming soon and booking now...

Heather and Carla's lives have taken very different paths – Carla lives a hand-to-mouth existence while Heather has a high-flying career, husband and a beautiful home. And yet, here they are in a café having tea and making awkward conversation. That is until Heather presents Carla with a bag containing a significant amount of cash and an unexpected proposition…

"Sprung like a bear trap - an excellent play with very sharp teeth" - The Stage

May 23 - 27th (in the Bar)

Howie and Becca Corbett are parents who have all that a family could wish for until one day their world is suddenly turned upside down and changed forever...

From award-winning US playwright David Lindsay-Abaire - author of Good People, seen at BLT in 2015 - Rabbit Hole was a worthy winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

"David Lindsay-Abaire returns with another scorching drama" - The Stage

June 8 - 16th

Our June 'In The Bar' production by Alan Ayckbourn shows how it’s never too early to think about a world filled with drama, suspense, intrigue and things that go ‘bump’ in the night. You may have to revise your ideas of an Ayckbourn play, as this is ‘Sisterly Feelings’ with a twist!

“A creepy, scarily, eerily enjoyable evening” - The Sunday Times

June 20 - 24th (In the Bar)

Shaw's classic comedy – on which the musical My Fair Lady was based – will also be our production at Hever Castle in 2018. The famous story of the transformation of Eliza Doolittle from flower girl to lady at the hands of Professor Henry Higgins needs no further introduction.

Daring social critique, old-fashioned romance, keen character study, it is as powerful today as it was when first written a hundred years ago.

July 6 - 14th

Please note: non-members may only book seats for Main House shows from one month before the start of each show. For cheaper seats and priority booking join BLT now!

Help us do our bit to tackle plastic waste

Given the increasing concern about single-use plastic we have decided to stop the use of plastic glasses at BLT. Instead we will now allow audience members to take 'glass' glasses into the auditorium.

For safety reasons, however, this does not apply to wine glasses with stems. Any drinks served in those will need to be transferred into tumblers.

We are also hoping to reduce the amount of plastic-bottled water we carry. Instead we are looking into providing chilled water free to anyone bringing their own re-cycleable bottles as an alternative. We will trial this for two main house productions and make a decision based on the results. Another alternative would be more rigid plastic re-useables.

Please help us with this initiative by returning your glasses to the Bar and NOT leaving them in the auditorium.

Thank you!

Tell us how we can make BLT even better

To discover more about our audiences - and hopefully attract even bigger ones - we are conducting audience surveys at all Main House performances.

We are inviting people to comment on the show they have seen and the way the theatre is run. We're also keen to find out more about the people who currently come to our shows and the kind of shows they would like to see more of.

Please pick up and fill out one of our questionnaires next time you come to see a Main House show. You'll be helping us to make BLT even better!
