Community Outreach

Coats for Kids: The Mills Community kicked off the annual Junior League of Austin's Coats for Kids Coat Drive Competition last week and Mills families have been extremely generous!

The blue donation bin in the front parking lot will be there through Wednesday, December 2, 2020. If you haven't shared details with your room parents or social media, please do!
You drive right up and drop them off, the Community Outreach Committee will take it from there! We welcome new and gently used coats of all colors and sizes including adult-sized coats for older recipients. This year we are most in need of coats for ages 12 -18.

Let's continue to show our Mountain Lion spirit by helping us reach our goal of 200 coats (we were at 105 last time I checked) and let's win the competition for elementary schools this year! We'll keep you posted here and on the Facebook page with a running tally.

Adopt A Family: The holidays should be a time of hope and giving, but for many Odom Elementary families, especially this year, the holidays can be stressful. At Joe Dan Mills Elementary, through the support of our generous Mills families and faculty, we'll make every effort to make the 2020 holiday season a little brighter for those in need during these unprecedented times.

The Adopt A Family Sign Up Sheet is available HERE along with information on changes we've had to implement this year.

Spirit Committee Chair
a. May create necessary special committees subject to Executive Board approval;
b. Oversees activities for special committees including:
* Spirit Wear
* Yearbook
* Amazing Race
* 5th Grade Graduation
And other special committees created with board approval.

The Mills Dirt Club is trying a new way to help out around campus while maximizing your social distancing! We have identified small areas around campus that families can adopt for the school year.

Most just need some weeding and TLC, though there are some areas that can have new plants or mulch added as well. The SignUpGenius below has individual details, and what work might be involved with each.
