SUPREME COURT'S CARTER RULING: LAW OF THE LAND
Parliament has missed the Supreme Court’s deadline and assisted suicide officially became legal throughout Canada on Tuesday, June 7th. Since Bill C-14 is still in the Senate after being passed in the House of Commons, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Carter stands. It is now up to the provinces to determine how this ruling will be applied.

BILL C-14 IN THE SENATE:
The Senate’s Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee has chosen to forgo the usual procedure of recommending amendments to the Senate. This means that all Senators will be welcome to propose amendments.
By all accounts, it appears the bill could be put to a Senate vote by the end of this week at the earliest.
ACT NOW TO INFLUENCE THE SENATE:
We believe that assisted suicide should be made completely illegal. At bare minimum, it should be made as restrictive as possible. We must demand more protection than Bill C-14 currently provides to medical professionals and the vulnerable.
How you can stand against assisted suicide today:
1) PRAYER AND FASTING:
Please continue to pray for God to change the hearts of Canadians, particularly our leaders, to fully value and honour life from conception to natural death. Pray that the fear of the Lord would fill the hearts of those making decisions regarding the future of assisted suicide in this land.
To join MYC's fasting chain, please click HERE to let us know which day of the week you will be fasting from now until the legislation is finalized.
2) E-MAIL SENATORS:
Since all Senators will have the opportunity to propose amendments, please take five minutes to compose an e-mail asking them to propose and vote for the following amendments:
▪ Include explicit protection of the conscience rights of healthcare professionals who refuse to perform euthanasia (including referrals)
▪ Replace access to physician-assisted suicide for those whose death is "reasonably foreseeable" with those whose illness is "terminal"
▪ Remove nurses from those healthcare practitioners who would be allowed to provide physician-assisted suicide
▪ Establish a right to palliative care for all Canadians
Please CLICK HERE to send your e-mail to all Senators simultaneously now.

THANK YOU
We know that many of you have marched with us every step of the way in this battle against assisted suicide. We appreciate you and honour you for every action taken. God bless you!
