Good News Corner

Exciting news to share from the Economic Self Sufficiency program!

We have a licensed RN!

Our client Jen H. passed her NCLEX exam recently, congratulations Nurse Jen!

Scholarships Awarded

The local Soroptomist organization selected yet another BCOC client, Jennifer E., for a $1,000 scholarship! Jen will use this for her tuition this summer. She was also accepted into Jefferson’s BSN program and will be transferring in the fall!

The Soroptomist’s Live Your Dream scholarship was awarded to Kelly H., in the amount of $5,000! She will be using this money to complete her LPN degree!

The Opportunity Council has supported 299 families who have graduated from our Economic Self-Sufficiency program in the 20 years since its inception- 62 of whom are now homeowners. Our approach addresses the root causes that keep low-income people in poverty. We help participants acquire the education, skills and employment to permanently leave poverty as opposed to merely cope in it. Interested in learning more? Visit our website, or contact Stacy Kaiser, Economic Self Sufficiency Program Manager at 215-536-0353 or at skaiser@bcoc.org.

BCOC Director of Community Services, Tammy Schoonover, facilitates "Morning Conversations" to discuss specific Bridges strategies and concepts. Our next Morning Conversation will be held on Wednesday, March 22 from 8 - 9 AM at the BCOC Administrative Office (100 Doyle Street, Doylestown). The topic will be: Hidden Rules of Family Structure. This opportunity is free of charge, however you must RSVP with Amanda Ricci at: aricci@bcoc.org. Space is limited to 15 participants and will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.
