Voluntary Benefits' Claim of the Week 8/29

All the Marbles

This week's claim is from a Nurse's Aid and where her son wanted to see where a marble could go.

Her 4 year old son wasn't feeling well and had a low-grade fever.

She brought him to the local clinic. When the Dr. attempted to look in his ear she couldn't see past the marbles!!!

Removal involved surgery at Children's Hospital Boston and an overnight stay for observation.

In her case, her Health Insurance paid nearly 100% of the bill with minimal out of pocket costs. However, she missed 5 days at work plus had some co-pays/deductibles.

That is financially devastating to a family living paycheck to paycheck.

Employers frequently tell me their Employees cant afford the $5/week for an Accident plan and what do they need it for.

This client received a check made out to her 4 days after submitting the claim.

She received:
* Initial Visit $120
* Ambulance $200
* MRI $200
* Hospitalization $1000
* Surgery $900
* Follow Up $35

Not bad for a $5/week policy covering herself and 4 kids!
