The Juliana is a very popoular design that is part of our Anniversary Collection. This home is located in Michigan.

This Month: Sorry this is late. I have been writing this newsletter and publishing it on the first day of every month for 170 months: since July of 2003. September of 2017 is the first time I have not been able to send it on time. My Father passed away on August 18th, my Mother had her hip replaced on August 25th and my daughter and her family camped out at my home while Hurricane Harvey was flooding their hometown of Houston, Texas. I am sure all of you will excuse me for being a few days late. I am just happy to see August of 2017 come to an end.

This month I am going to share photos with you illustrating ideas you may wish to incorporate into your home. More photos and less text. - Lynn Gastineau

Trivia Question: When is the next total solar eclipse in the United States? (See the answer at the end of the newsletter.)

Ext.End

Our customers came to us with an existing foundation they wanted to use. We designed this home to fit on that foundation but give them a LOT more space. We used knee walls to give more room on the second floor but still incorporating a "cabin" feel to the design. The porch on this end faces a lake.

Love the railing for the deck and the log posts supporting the deck.

Notice the white washed boards between the Oak beams. The mixture of colors on the wood is so beautiful.

This is rock covering an interior wall.... the fireplace of the same rock is on an perpendicular wall...

Home above and below: This is a modified Caroline. The Master Bedroom is moved upstairs and lots of windows and doors are added as well as a huge balcony. The walk out uses the same metal as the roof.

Answer to Trivia Question: April 8, 2024. It will come up through Texas hitting many major cities, up through Little Rock and then on across southeastern MO, across southern IL and all of the lower half of Indian, northwestern OH, Buffalo NY, northern Vermont and leaving after going across the center of Maine. I have it on my calendar; the eclipse on August 21, 2017 was amazing and I plan to see the next one too.

Quote of the Month: “It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not.”― Anonymous.
