1140 darknessbyday

Darkness by Day
(Friday May 22, 9:45pm)

In Darkness by Day, Virginia finds herself eerily drawn to her cousin Julia who requires her care after coming down with a mysterious illness. Dark and brooding, this film is a great addition to queer lady horror. No exploitation or internal homophobia to be found.

1140 gameface

Game Face
(Saturday May 23, 4:30pm)

If you aren't already bowing down to MMA fighter and trans activist, Fallon Fox, you will be after you see this. Game Face follows Fox, and college basketball player Terrence Clemens, as they search for their place as out LGBTQ athletes in America.

1140 bloodandwater

Blood & Water / Lesbian Shorts: She Loves Me Not
(Tuesday May 26, 8pm)

Blood and Water tells the story of Flo, a carefree student who has always lived for the moment, especially when it comes to women, but has her world turned on its head when she falls for one of her professors. One part of a great program this is probably the sexiest film about rejection you will see this year and, as a bonus, falls under one of my favourite categories: hot for teacher.

1140 theaminaprofile

The Amina Profile
(Wednesday May 27, 5:30pm)

Part love story part brilliant psychological thriller The Amina Profile introduces us to Montrealer, Sandra Bagaria, and Syrian-American revolutionary, Amina Arraf. We follow them from the early days of their online romance to the end of their relationship, by way of an unprecedented media and sociological hoax.

1140 inthehollow

In the Hollow / Mixed Shorts: Life Though A Lens
(Saturday May 30, 12:30pm)

A perfectly executed mix of documentary and narrative In the Hollow tells the true story of the murder of Rebecca Wight and shooting of her girlfriend Claudia Brenner on the Appalachian Trail in May of 1988. If you are anything like me, you will cry. A lot. Sad but beautiful and important, this one is an absolute must-see.
