Managers

As we are invited to consider what it means to be managers (rather than owners) of all that we have, it is crucial to recall that we are bought with a price. “Christ Jesus, himself human, . . . gave himself a ransom for all.” Apart from the generosity of God we have nothing—we are nothing. By God’s gracious favor we have everything we need.

Blessing of the Animals

Friday, October 4 at 6:00 pm

On Friday, October 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis, the patron saint of the environment and animals, Lake Edge is going to celebrate by having a Blessing of the Animals service. Bring your two, four, six, eight-legged friends to receive a blessing from Pastor Mae Jean. All animals and humans are welcome. Have a friend or neighbor with a pet ? Invite them to join us! Dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, hamsters -- let’s see what variety of animals we love. Do you or someone you know have an animal that would prefer to stay at home, like a fish, a shy cat or an animal that has difficulty getting around? Bring their favorite blanket, fish food, cat food to get blessed. Mice? Speak to the pastor about this!
For those that don’t own animals and those that do, here’s another way to participate. Bring a can of pet food or a monetary donation for the care of animals. We will collect these on Friday, October 4 at the service and the following Sunday, October 6, during worship. If you make a monetary donation at church, use one of the envelopes in the pews and designate for “Care of Animals.” All donations will be split between two non-profits, the Dane County Humane Society and the Heartland Farm Sanctuary out of Verona. The Heartland Farm Sanctuary can also use bread and peanut butter, which they use when giving medication to sheep or pigs, or canned pumpkin, which is given to the pot-bellied pigs. Find out more about these wonderful animal-loving organizations on their websites.
Please join us on Friday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. We hope to have a lively bunch! Following the short service and blessing at 6:00, sandwiches or pizza will be delivered by approximately 6:30 for us to share food together and then get your pets -- and yourself -- safely back home! All-welcoming, all-inclusive. Don’t miss this! Hope to see you. Any questions, please contact Pastor Mae Jean, Deb Jenson or Laura Tollefson.
