Day Three - Virtual Southern Side by Side Classic

Meet a Vendor

Founded in 1812, Westley Richards has been one of the most influential gunmakers of all time, responsible for the development of the Anson and Deeley box lock action used the world over, as well as the refinement of that action, the hand detachable (or drop lock) shotgun. Westley also deals in high end pre-owned guns, including the immaculate trio of David McKay Brown 16 bores pictured above. If you want to learn more, take a read of Westley Richards- In Pursuit of the Best Gun, by Jeremy Musson and photos by our friend, Terry Allen.

Meet a Vendor & Watch an Interview

Turnbull Restoration, based in upstate New York, is America's foremost firearm restoration specialist, taking vintage firearms back to factory original specification, or better. Take a look at the full restoration story of a Winchester 1886 they carried out for actor Tom Selleck. They also apply their finishing processes to new firearms made by Ruger, Browning, Marlin, and Winchester. By using traditional color case hardening and charcoal, rust, and nitre bluing techniques, Turnbull can revive the original finishes in vintage firearms, or give new guns finishes that few in the business can provide. Learn more in the interview Sean did with owner, Doug. Turnbull is offering a 10% discount on all pre-owned shotguns during the Virtual Southern.

Hound & Hare strives to provide products that have been designed and produced by craftsman who share a commitment for supreme quality and innovation. These craftsman respect the sporting heritage and traditions that influence the design and the selection of materials to create products that will last a lifetime. Owners, Eric and Amy know the value of and admire the products that become family heirlooms and are passed down from generation to generation. These values are reflected in the apparel and accessories Hound & Hare has curated while being produced in England and the U.S. Eric and Amy encourage all of us to help out in any way we can to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, and they are donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of their Signature Long Sleeved Shirt to Samaritan's Purse, that will support the organization's newly erected field hospitals in New York City and Italy.

Ok, this isn't the best picture of me, but what the selfie didn't capture was the downpour we were in all day! I sent this to Sean to show him what he was missing being at home. My hair is a little wet, but nothing else. This jacket from Hound and Hare kept me dry ALL day. Others were wet and very envious! It goes on all my trips now! 20% off this jacket during the show!

Tips and Tricks - Gun Cleaning

▪ Some of us get home from a day in the field or on the clays ground and the first things we do is clean our gun. And some of us have the best of intentions, planning to clean our gun later in the evening (after seeing to the dogs, having dinner, and sitting by the fire for a little while with a cocktail), but end up putting it off to another day. Either way, you need to do a good job of it. The attached article here, Rust Never Sleeps, by Gregg Elliott from Dogs and Doubles is a great place to start in learning how to do it right.
