Railroad crossing, railroad cars…can you spell that without any R’s?

Okay, so I guess I still have the Steam Engine Blog Hop on my brain (grin). I hope you were able to participate in the free Union Station quilt design by Studio 180 Design. If not, revisit my blog for a complete listing of the blocks and blog posts to download each part of the beautiful quilt made with Deb's Signature Line of fabric from Island Batik - Steam Engine. Rumor has it that the much anticipated fabrics are becoming available at local quilt shops!

Many of you are receiving The Quilt Rambler Newsletter for the first time due to joining in the Steam Engine Blog Hop. Thank you for your participation! The Quilt Rambler Newsletter is a once a month subscription that you can opt out of at any time, fingers crossed that you enjoy the ramblings and continue to join in the quilting adventures!

Goodness! September flew by! Two “The Quilt Rambler on the Road” events. One a local lecture and trunk show, the other a full adventure of lecture/trunk show/Paradise Island Workshop 300 miles north in Grapevine Texas with the added “bonus” of being stranded about 100 miles away from returning home with my sidekick Dianne due to flooding in Houston. Yep always something to talk about (grin). By the way, I'm booking now for 2020 and 2021 so pass my name along to your guild's program chair - I'd love to come to your neck of the woods!

I’ve got some very exciting news to share – weeks away from launching two new patterns! Enchanted Stars uses Deb Tucker's Rapid Fire® Lemoyne Star tool with Island Batik's Mermaid Cove fabric collection shipping now to quilt shops. Celestial Borealis Twilight uses multiple tools - V Block®, Corner Beam® and Square Squared® with Island Batik's Black Pearl fabric collection also arriving now in your local quilt shops.

I'm giving my newsletter subscribers a heads up to watch for the official announcement on the blog and across social media. As a thank you to subscribing to the newsletter you have an exclusive multiple use coupon for 15% off any and all of my PDF patterns now through the end of November 2019. That simply means that you can get started with any of the current patterns while awaiting the release of the new ones.

Fall Quilt Market and International Quilt Festival are just weeks away. So blessed to live between Houston and Galveston so I can attend both these events! Let me know if you will be in town for either of these and let’s try to arrange a time to meet and say hello in person!

Market will find me hovering between Island Batik’s booth and Studio 180 Design’s booth. I will probably be hanging with my “brother from another mother” aka The Redneck, Brian McCoy as we will be handing out postcards for our upcoming Onboard Quilting Excursion! ™ Have you registered for our cruise yet? Information found here.

During Quilt Festival you will find me helping out in Quiltoni’s booth – if you aren’t familiar with her pixelization comic book and video game quilts take a look at her website. Toni is a lot of fun and I can’t wait to hang out with her.

The remainder of the year will be spent designing new patterns as an Island Batik Designer and Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor. I love how these two companies complement each other and allow me the “opportunity of a lifetime” to create with beautiful fabrics using fabulous tools and techniques! Speaking of which, be sure to check out Deb’s recently announced new tools and patterns!

Now, here’s a question for you, as a pattern designer I am always interested in the types of “real quilts” people are making. As a favor to me, would you email me your thoughts?

Do you like traditional blocks, modern designs? Scrappy or limited fabric pallet? Are you looking for patterns that use precuts, 2 ½” strips, 10” squares or fat quarters? Wall hangings, lap size, bedsize or a pattern that offers multiple sizes? What about required tools? Do you shy away from a multitool pattern or embrace the challenge?

Inquiring minds want to know! Email me at TheQuiltRambler@gmail.com with the subject line Pattern Thoughts and hit me with your best shot! I will do a random drawing from all emails submitted and will send you an autographed copy of my newest patterns once they are in print, or for international winners I will send you a coupon for a free download of each. Contest ends October 15th so put on your thinking caps and help me design my next quilt!

For my local peeps – in the works is a workshop for Christmas Everlasting a free download pattern from Studio 180 Design using the Rapid Fire® Lemoyne Star tool– the Island Batik fabric arrived recently and I’m working on a date and location sometime in November after Festival. Let me know of your interest!

Happy Fall Y'all
