The Gospel for this Sunday:

Luke 6:27-38

Mercy. Mercy. Mercy. Joseph lives it in Egypt. Jesus preaches it in the gospel. The Spirit guides us into merciful lives with the power of forgiveness to reconcile what is fractured and divided. Such merciful living is the baptismal blessing of having put on Christ. It is the gift of the life-giving Spirit. It is a reflection of the glory of God revealed in the Christ.

February 24: Racial Justice Coalition- The New MOSES/Wisdom Initiative to cut down on “mass supervision,” or putting people on parole and probation unnecessarily using sometimes draconian rules and arbitrary enforcement to disrupt people’s lives, jobs, families, and homes. Columbia University Justice Lab has just released a report titled “Mass Supervision in Wisconsin.” It deals with things like Revocations, Extended Supervision, Monitoring, etc. It shows that Wisconsin is an outlier — we have more people on Supervision for longer times, more revocations, and more expensive, damaging life disruptions than most states. If you would like to see the report before the session, you can access it here: [Click here to access.]

On Monday, February 25, at 6:30 pm, Pastor Mae Jean will hold a forum for the Lake Edge Lutheran community to talk about how we can best assist our brothers and sisters in need through the dispersion of Pastors’ Emergency Funds. This will be time to explore past and present practices and our best hopes for the future. While the decision for the specific use of the funds is , by virtue of the name, the pastor’s discretion, the monies come from the people of Lake Edge. So we should talk. If you are able and so inclined, please come join the conversation.

Rides to Worship

At Lake Edge, we are working with Madison Metro to provide Para-transit service to transport seniors to and from worship on Sundays. This service will be provided by LELC at no cost. Pick up an application for your self, or for someone you know who would benefit from this program. Applications are available under the Jumbotron or click here. The application process includes an in-person needs assessment which we will arrange to have scheduled at Lake Edge Lutheran. Return applications to D'neece Hettrick, Jan Johnson or the church office by as soon as possible.
