Last week we asked you to commit to choosing one day of the week to call three offices weekly from now until June. Many of you responded and have already placed your first or second round of calls. Thank you so much!

We are thrilled to report that we are already seeing evidence of the effect this is having in Parliament!

Many of you have been reporting back to us that some of the numbers have been jammed and you are unable to get through the first few tries. This is excellent news!!

Jammed phone-lines reassure us that:

1) Our "targets" are being overloaded with the message of opposition to assisted suicide from concerned Canadians.

2) Offices are receiving enough calls that it has interrupted their regular work, meaning that they are forced to take note.

Important Update To The Calling Strategy:

Firstly, if you are receiving a busy signal at the Ottawa office numbers please call the constituency offices. An updated list of phone numbers is below.

Secondly, we have added a fourth number to call; Anthony Housefather, Chair of the House of Commons Justice Committee, who will soon lead the study of the recently proposed assisted suicide legislation.

Participants are now asked to call four offices each week including Housefather, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, and their own Member of Parliament.

The Canadian Medical Association Journal recently published two heartbreaking studies that prove gendercide is occurring in Canada as there is a higher than normal ratio of male to female babies being born. The gender imbalance increases significantly if the family already has existing female children. Basically, the study proves that some families abort baby girls until they have their preferred son.

The report states that this most often occurs among women who were born in India and who may have been taught culturally to consider baby girls as having less value than baby boys. It is wonderful that there are laws preventing women from having gender-selection abortions in India. However, this law DOES NOT EXIST in Canada.

Because there are NO LAWS surrounding abortion in Canada, there is no way to prevent sex-selective abortions from taking place amongst the Indian immigrant population where the problem is so shockingly prevalent.

The evidence is devastating. We can not allow the killing of baby girls simply because they are girls.

What You Can Do to Protect Pre-Born Baby Girls:

1) Contact your MP

Please contact your Member of Parliament to express how you feel about the fact that there are no laws prohibiting gender-selection in Canada. Ask them to protect Canadian girls by making it illegal to abort a baby simply because she is a girl.

2) Sign and Share this Petition:

Please sign and circulate this petition calling on Parliament to condemn discrimination against girls occurring through sex-selective abortion.

3) Pray:

Please pray that the hearts of pregnant women, particularly from India, will wholeheartedly embrace the news that they are carrying a baby girl and that their families and friends would give them the support they need to break free from cultural and traditional bondages.
