The AI Classroom Book Study

The AI Classroom Book Study, led by REMC1's Steve Kass and the Western UP MiSTEM Network's Emily Geiger, offers educators a unique opportunity to explore the integration of AI in education. Participants will receive a free copy of the book and can earn up to 16 State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) and a stipend upon completion. This online and self-paced course runs from August 1 to October 11, allowing educators the flexibility to engage with the material at their convenience. Great Lakes Tall Ship Schooner Inland Seas

Morning Sail on the Inland Seas Schooner--July 11

Join local educators for a morning sail on the visiting Tall Ships! The excursion will include three 12-15 minute talks from experts, two activity stations, time to enjoy the sail and to assist with raising and lowering sails!

Participants will meet at the Student Development Complex (SDC) at Michigan Tech and will be bussed down to the Michigan Tech GLRC (due to parking limitations) and back to the SDC after. This event is sponsored by the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative (LSSI) and the Western UP MiSTEM Network.

StarLab Training

Are you interested in learning how to use the StarLab in your school? Attend this training to learn how to set up and teach using the StarLab. Participants that attend this workshop will be authorized to reserve this resource from REMC1. Workshops will be offered in both the CCISD and GOISD region on the following dates:

Staff Spotlight
Karl

Karl Stegman - REMC1 Support Technician

Originally from the St. Louis area, Karl earned a BA in Radio, Television, and Digital Media from Southern Illinois University in 2016. In recent years, he has gained experience in IT, working in Helpdesk support and most recently as an A/V Technician. Karl joined the REMC1 team as an intern in February 2023 and has since transitioned to a full-time role as a Support Technician. We are excited to welcome Karl to REMC1 SupportNet. Outside of work, Karl is passionate about music and writing, often quoting his favorite movies.
