Mother's Day Gift Ideas for Quilters + New Projects with Gretel

Hello friends!

Happy May!

I had a fun time this week making this darling fabric basket for a swap. The pattern was so slick and it came together so fast! It's perfect for gift giving.

I used Gretel fabric for this project. I'm still having fun playing with fabric combinations from this collection.

I also found a bunch of other recent projects made with Gretel and have linked to them as well.

Some of these would make great Mother's Day gifts!

Speaking of Mother's Day gifts... My family's go-to gift for me is typically my favorite sweet treats, but since I'm trying to improve my eating habits, I requested no sugar treats this year.

So they requested ideas of things I would like instead. I was happy to oblige. :)

If you're looking ideas - whether to give or to some inspiration for family members who are looking - here's my latest list of Gifts to Make or Give for Quilters.

Have you met Bear Creek Quilting Company? They are a new sponsor of Diary of a Quilter. They are a family owned business with a huge selection of fabric, precuts, notions, and kits, including this quilt called Sweet Caroline.

And this week they are giving away a $50 gift certificate. Click below to get all of the details.

Other fun finds on the web this week:

Jeni Baker shared an updated tour of her Sewing Room here. (Don't you love getting a peek of other people's pretty sewing spaces?)

Sarah Ashford shares a darling Quilt-As-You-Go pillow tutorial. Makes me want to pull out my favorite scraps and sit down to make one!

And how about this for a fun gift idea? Add some extra fun to a pair of canvas sneakers with some cute embroidery. Bev from Flamingo Toes (and embroidery pro) will show you how.

There's a lot of sewing going on behind the scenes in these parts as I prepare for International Quilt Market in 2 weeks. Unfortunately I can't share pictures yet, but I'll let you in on this secret:

I'll be introducing my 4th fabric collection that will arrive in shops this coming fall. I'm so excited to share more photos and details in the weeks to come, including 3 new quilt designs that I'm pretty excited about. I just finished one more sample today and I'm off to get it to my quilter ASAP!

I did take a sewing break one day. Jen Kingwell was in town at the Utah Quilting and Sewing Marketplace and I got to hear her trunk show. Her quilts always inspire me to start cutting up as much fabric as possible. If you ever get the chance to hear Jen speak, DO IT!

I hope you have a great week where you are. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Amy
