Sunday Morning Bible Study
9:30am in the Activity Room ~ Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
We will be finishing the first book soon and starting the second book, Pilgrim's Progress 2: Christiana's Story. "John Bunyan could be said to have authored the most influential book in the English language (other than the King James Bible) but The Pilgrim's Progress is so much more than an historic novel. It was written in two parts. The first (and most famous) part involves Pilgrim leaving his wife and children and risking everything to get to the heavenly city. This second part tells the story of how his wife and children follow him to reach the same destination. Bunyan wants you to travel through this book as an adventure through the Christian life. This sequel has an equal place in the hearts of those that read it. Some regard it as even better - though it isn't so well known."

Ladies Bible Study ~ Friday, at 9am in the Activity Room

Children's Ministries Sign Up

We are working to launch Sunday morning Childcare as well as Collide Kids Wednesdays soon!
We want to do this as safely and securely as possible, to protect kids and volunteers.
Not only will we continue to follow CDC health guideline requirements within these ministries,
(mask wearing, social distancing, cleaning, etc.) but all volunteers must complete a background check (performed by CLC) and a Statement of Faith.
More details coming in February!

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Online - Our God is a generous God. He loved us so much that He gave us His very best in sending Jesus to earth to die for our sins. Once you experience His generous love and forgiveness through faith in Jesus, you will want to give generously to others! In today's lesson, we learn Faith produces Generosity.

Grab your kid(s) and spend 25 minutes together singing, dancing, laughing, and learning! We would love for you to also have your child(ren) memorize this week's scripture verse and motions and upload a video of them in the comment section under the video on the CLC Facebook page! Have a great week, Collide Kids!

Youth Group

We hope to begin to plan a return to meetings as soon as possible.

Souper Bowl of Caring ~ February 7, 2021

Our youth voted on five excellent charities that are working diligently to feed people in our community. It was a close race but the organization that received the most votes was The Brightside Project ~ Food for Kids. On "Souper" Bowl Sunday, we will have our soup pots ready to collect monetary donations for this worthwhile group. Give whatever you can to help support the monthly food giveaway that invites children to choose food and personal care items to take home.
If you aren't coming to church in-person and you'd still like to donate, please feel free to mail your donation to Common Ground or drop it off here during the week.

Souper Bowl of Caring ~ Uniting communities to #TackleHunger using the energy of the Big Game!

Prayer

For whom are you praying today? How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"This is the day the Lord has made – Let us REJOICE! God is so good to us every day. I pray we always are thankful for every blessing we have. "Holy Spirit, keep us in tune," seems to be my message each week. He is our daily guide. We need to depend on the Holy Spirit for everything."

"My word this week is “GENUINE.” We need to be “genuine” in all things. “Genuine” means authentic or the real deal – not fake. Holy Spirit, let us be transparent or “genuine” in our daily lives. In my life, there have been several times I have had to deal with some fake people. Hard lessons learned but this has made me, more than ever, be as “genuine” as I can be. Holy Spirit, check us when we may not be authentic or show “genuine” love, care, or concern to whoever may cross our path. Holy Spirit, check us when our worship to the Father may not be “genuine.” Holy Spirit, check us if we become complacent in our relationship with Jesus. He desires a “genuine” relationship with Him. Let everything that we do or say be “genuine.” Guide our steps, Holy Spirit. I pray in everything to be “genuine.”

Have a “genuine” super blessed week!

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is
good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope.
Be patient in trouble and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help
them. Always be eager to practice hospitality..
~ Romans 12:9-13 (NLT))

News of the Week

This week brought us some very cool sights - we saw baby praying mantises, had a butterfly hatch, and also watched birds and rescued a mouse in the warehouse. We always feel lucky to be able to be so close to nature at GG!

We got in a bit more work time outside, worked in the greenhouse, and did some cleaning/organizing in the warehouse. Inside we spent more time working on preserving a variety of dried herbs as well as cleaning throughout the building. In extra exciting news, Miss Rachel and Miss Jill took a trip to the GreenStar Co-op in Greenford to start picking up planting supplies AND our seeds for this year's CSA have begun arriving in the mail! Yay!!

We Built a Mini Raised Bed!

Winter is a great time for building, which is something our clients really enjoy. Yesterday we all worked together to build a brand new mini raised bed. Everyone took a turn placing a screw to assemble it and we are very proud of the results. Look for it full of flowers this growing season!

Treasure Hunting on the Property

We have been working on cleaning up what appears to be an old rubbish dump. We've found so many things including a mug, a tilling disk, shopping carts, freezers, an old water heater, barrels,
an old door, and...most exciting - the really fun circus toy below! Who knows what we'll find next!

In Search of Canning Supplies

If you are looking for a donation opportunity, GG is always in need of jam jars. We use regular mouth 8oz. jars and regular mouth jar lids and rings. Due to many factors beyond our control (Thanks, 2020!), getting these canning supplies is becoming increasingly difficult. When you are out shopping, if you ever notice these rare items and would like to buy some to donate to our jam making endeavors, we would greatly appreciate it! Or, if you see them somewhere and can let us know that we should take a speedy shopping trip to a certain store, that will also be most appreciated!

Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam

Goodness Grows Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam available at Reach for the STARS online: Shop Local.
They even provide curbside pickup in Salem to encourage social distancing. We are also glad to arrange a jam pick up here at GG. Check out our jam table in the Great Room.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
