A little of this ... hello again

Welcome to my Spring, 2016, newsletter, the first newsletter in, well, awhile. Spring is a time for new beginnings, and that's exactly how I feel right now, dear readers, full of new growth and chirpy energy.

Things are buzzing along in my writing world. Two years ago I announced my debut novel, Kilmoon, and now I'm looking forward to telling you about my second novel (see below). I'm currently writing the third novel in the County Clare mystery series, which comes out next year.

Willie Daly and I. I'm holding an advanced copy of Whispers, and he's holding a copy of Kilmoon that I gave him. (Yes, I carried books around with me everywhere. :-))

A little of that ... novel research in Ireland

A few months ago I spent a wonderful three weeks in County Clare, Ireland, for novel research. If you've read Kilmoon, you might remember Liam, the enigmatic matchmaker with a dark past. I met the real matchmaker, Willie Daly, at a horse fair of all places. I had no idea who he was when I stopped to pet the horse he was selling. Imagine my delight! Ireland is a magical place; I wasn't surprised by the serendipity.

Plus books news: Whispers in the Mist arrives soon!

Whispers in the Mist, the second County Clare mystery, launches on August 8th. And it's available for pre-order now! (Woohoo!)

Kirkus Reviews says Whispers in the Mist is "a worthy successor to Kilmoon in tone, mood, complexity, and keen insight into human failures and triumphs." (Woohoo!)

Stay tuned for my summer newsletter. I'll have more to say about the book launch, and you never know, I might give away a book or an Irish trinket. (OK, yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do.) (But I won't "woohoo" again.)

Cheers and happy spring!

French Mastiff

One of the story's heroes is a French mastiff named Bijou. How can you not love that face?!

P.S. Want to know more about Whispers in the Mist? Here you go:

There's a whisper in the mists

In Lisfenora, Ireland, a strange fog has rolled in off the Atlantic. Along with the fog comes tales of Grey Man, a predatory faery of local lore who snatches innocent souls into his deadly gloom.

And with the mists come murder

When a teenage boy dies in Detective Sergeant Danny Ahern's arms, Danny finds himself pursuing his own grey man, a killer who becomes more elusive the closer Danny gets to the truth. A mute woman may be the key to solving the murder and helping Danny heal his own broken life, but first she must unlock the memories from her past.
