SAFETY AND SECURITY

Our monthly SAPS Meeting took place on the 14th June 2016 to consider May month's crime statistics.

A concern was raised about criminals who are targeting companies during office hours.

A request to all companies in visible distance of Happy Valley to be vigilant for gangsters and gang related activities. Although gang violence and gang related activities have not yet affected the Industrial Area, the SAPS reported that various high profile gangs and gang leaders are and have been operating within Happy Valley and this is of great concern to us as neighbours of the residential areas.

It has been confirmed that gang members hide in the bush areas along Happy Valley and lie in wait on pedestrians who pass there on their way to work and who they then rob.

Action Steps

1. Brendan van der Merwe requested greater visibility from SAPS and ST3 Security especially in the hot spot areas named above.
2. The illegal and often dangerous trailer stacking problem along Range Road to be addressed by Law Enforcement and the Traffic Department. Law Enforcement issued 7 fines for illegal trailer parking and 70 fines for general activities for the month of May.
