Why not take a few minutes to complete our client experience survey?

Already this year Prahran Vet Hospital has been formally inspected by the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association, toured by a large delegation from the Australian Vet Association's annual conference, as well as entertained inquisitive visitors from all corners of the veterinary profession. We've been delighted to receive positive feedback from them all!

There's one opinion that really matters to us though: YOURS!

Take our easy survey this month and you'll be in the running to win a $200 winter spending blitz at the South Yarra Pet Boutique!

Doga-Dog-Yoga

We're feeling very Zen this July

Working in a busy veterinary practice is not always a recipe for good mental health. Busy days full of high pressure situations, emotional challenges and patient stories that end sadly despite all of our efforts. All these things can take a toll.

This month we've taken some time to make sure we're "refilling our tanks" adequately, so that we can continue to provide optimal care to our patients. The team have been attending weekly presentations from positive psychology experts such as Dr Cathy Warburton and the team from MindFit. We have also been practising some downward dog outside of work too, attending team yoga sessions at Body Bliss Wellbeing.

We're taking more walks together, meditating and prioritising time to refocus on the many positive experiences working in our wonderful profession affords us. We just ask for a little bit of indulgence if we seem a tad blissful this month!

Dr Sarah Carter, one of our great new recruits

Many of you will already have met some fantastic new team members here at Prahran. We've been busily recruiting outstanding professionals as we continually seek to grow and improve the care of your pets.

Drs Kate Earle, Melinda Bakker and Sarah Carter come to us with experience and interests that cover a broad range of clinical practice. Dr Melinda is currently undertaking further studies in cat medicine and will support Dr Jennie in her role as "feline advocate" at Prahran and South Yarra. Dr Kate has a keen interest in surgical cases and is relishing learning from Dr Diana's expertise in this area. Dr Sarah has recently graduated in Perth and is loving her new found home on the east coast, she has easily settled into Prahran and is quickly making friends of all our lovely clients and patients.

Dr Farlie's gorgeous daughter, Annika

In other recent developments Drs Diana and Farlie have returned from maternity leave: We congratulate Farlie and her husband on the arrival of their gorgeous daughter Annika, and also welcome Diana and Dr Theo's little girl Niamh, who's proving a source of great pride to big sister Odette.

We have recently been joined by a number of experienced and talented veterinary nursing staff. Liz, Mitchell and Amanda are all stellar additions to our team and bring a wealth of nursing expertise to their roles. Emily has recently stepped up from cattery manager duties as our newest trainee nurse, making way for (a different) Mitchell aka "Coops" to look after our boarding guests.

Nurse Mary will be missed by all our patients

We are sad to have bid farewell to nurse Mary, who many of you have come to know over the past six years. Mary's care and skill have been of huge importance to our patients undergoing recovery from major surgical procedures, her post-op rehabilitation programmes and genuine passion for surgical aftercare have been a huge asset to our patients. Whilst we will miss Mary greatly we wish her every success in a welfare role at the RSPCA, a cause close to her heart and a fantastic opportunity. Dr Alice Redwood has left us at the end of May, we thank her for her contribution since October 2014, we wish her the best in future endeavours.

We can't wait for you to meet Kate, Melinda, Sarah, and all the nursing team. We know you and your fur-families will join us in giving them a big Prahran Vet welcome!
