Just one word to its devoted fans - calamondins! On my way to Gene Lester’s orchard to harvest the last fruitcake ingredient, my esteemed Shekwasha Citrus, I stopped at a source for Rangpur limes. Wandered the growing fields searching each hoop house and finally spied 4 fruit-laden trees at the back of the last one - just enough for a batch of Calamondin Marmalade. It is generally considered, even by Gene, that marmalade doesn’t get any better than this, and the first jar goes to him. So, it is back in stock, but don’t expect it to last long!

Also—just in time for Mother’s Day, return of the Summer Fruitcake. For those of you whose fruitcake fix can’t wait til fall, now is your chance... brief, yet somehow fleeting.

RL-Farmers-Market

A note to local customers, and those who sometimes are: after 20 years, I attended my last Farmer’s Market in January. It was essential to my success - a place to begin, to hone my craft, to meet suppliers, sources, account leads, and a host of customers who have become life-long friends. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the fact that I never again have to be somewhere at a certain time on a regular date.

All products will continue to be available online, and if you happen to be in my neighborhood, you may still arrange to pick your order up directly.

It is with great sadness that I report my greetings will soon no longer come from my beloved Glen Ellen. For the full story, click here. The aftermath of the Nun’s Fire is still with us 2 years later, and I’ve been forced to look outside Sonoma County, into Napa, near the town of Calistoga, for another home. In any case, new gardens will be planted and grow, a fresh green world will unfold once more. For someone who’s spent a lifetime making things out of lemons, I expect no one’s better prepared to adapt than I!

Happy Spring!

My Best to you all,
Robert Lambert
