Help us meet this emergency need to

care for orphans in their distress

1

In the town where our Mana Gammachuu (Joyful Place) orphanage is located, six children (2 toddlers and 4 babies) have been taken from another orphanage due to severe neglect. Mana Gammachuu has been asked to take them and so we gather these hungry, neglected children in our arms and compassionately treat them as Jesus would.

Saying yes to six more children in our orphanage means a big squeeze on our very full orphanage. We must hire two more nannies and another cleaner (all the clothes are washed by hand). It puts a strain on our limited supplies of diapers and clothing, the food budget takes a significant jump and there is the likelihood of increased medical bills.

Saying yes to six needy children is a step of faith. We don’t have the budget to cover these increased expenses, yet we cannot turn away these children. They have nowhere else to go. We will work diligently to see they are adopted by Christian Ethiopian families, but that will take time.

It costs us approximately $200/month to care for each child, so our monthly budget has increased by $1,200 and our regular monthly budget was already in a shortfall. Our greatest need is monthly supporters, but there are also other ways you can help these precious little ones: We are asking the Body of Christ to help using a very simple means: our gift catalog.

At the moment we are in triage mode and need immediate help. In the long-term, we need individuals or churches to financially come alongside Mana Gammachuu. All the children in our care have been abandoned... a baby found lying on the ground next to a school or discovered beside a stream or in a hospital courtyard or crying under a tree near the marketplace. These children have no one to care for them. Sometimes they are found with the umbilical cord attached, bloody and dirty. Others are naked save for an old towel or cloth wrapped around them. Some have worms in their noses and ears from lying in the dirt. Most of these beautiful individuals are little more than skin and bones; their mothers did not have enough to eat

But Jesus says this: “What is the price of five sparrows – two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” (Luke 12:6,7)

God has distinctly asked NewLife Ethiopia to care for these throw-away babies that He knows intimately. We are called to tenderly bathe them, feed them, and love them. Our hope for each one is to provide a loving, Christian family to provide the nurture and stability every child needs to grow strong and healthy. It is what we do.

But we absolutely cannot do this without YOU!

Please consider advocating for these children through your church, family members and social circles. We know God wants nothing but the very best for the little ones He assigns to us. Together, we will bring joy to His heart as we say YES to caring for orphans in their distress!
