A Fear Free Commitment to Your Pet
We're Fear Free Certified for Happy Vet Visits
If you've visited us recently you may have noted that the treats were flowing even more plentifully than usual. You may also have observed our staff paying extra attention to your pet's behavioural response to being at the vet, that's because we're working harder than ever to make their experiences with us as happy and stress-free as possible. We want every vet visit to be Fear Free!
Our staff have voluntarily been undertaking training in Fear Free practice techniques and all of our processes have been reviewed. The aim is to make Prahran Vet as happy a place for your pet as possible.

We all like to think our dogs are really happy, but how can we be sure? New research suggests most of us can't even tell !
Researchers at the University of Sydney are calling on us all to learn the skill of "dogmanship". What does the term mean exactly? Well, it encompasses the ability to identify and better understand the communication signals our dogs give us. Doing so will mean a more harmonious relationship and happier life for our pets. A recent series on ABC's catalyst is essential viewing for anyone with an interest in communicating better with their canine buddy.
The researchers have released a free app DogLogBook to help dog lovers track their pet's activities, health-related issues or behaviours that may be problematic. The app caters to dogs of all life stages and there is even a specific tool to monitor dogs suffering from epilepsy. The application is also considered a valuable tool when it comes to making heart-breaking end-of-life decisions.
"I think there are a lot of people who undoubtedly love their dogs who are making some serious mistakes, and science is there to help all of us get the very best relationship with dogs"
(Professor Paul McGreevy, University of Sydney)
