A Note From Mr. Sandefur

Lion Family,

If you are like me, there has been a season that you have walked through that involved a trial, difficulty, or even loss. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, stress from a sinful and dying world, complications with family or work, or something else, it can leave us looking for answers and healing. I want to encourage each member of our school family that if you are walking through difficulty, our Lord is here for you. The words of the psalmist in Psalm 73:26 provide great strength for those who are experiencing trials and difficulties, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

I would like to ask that you join me this week in praying for those within our community who are experiencing difficulty, as well as for our world that is on the brink of conflict.

This week I had the pleasure of speaking to some of our students who recently participated in a LWWL service project within our community. This shared experience of servanthood allows a shift in their worldview perspective. One student, in particular, shared that he learned how to be content with what he has as he saw others who did not have what he took for granted. Please join me in praying that our students continue to experience the love of Christ and share it with all those that they encounter daily.

In Christ Alone,

Jeremy Sandefur
President

Save The Date

TKA will be hosting the “Forged" Parent Conference on March 5th in Woody Auditorium.

Click here to RSVP for this event!

“Forged” will be a morning of biblically-based parenting seminars focused on encouraging parents that are raising students in a post-Christian society. We are blessed to have local ministers from our community coming to share on topics involving discipleship, maneuvering technology in today’s digital society, and student identity in an ever-changing environment. This event is free and will be a great opportunity to link arms with other parents as we focus on what the Bible says about the roles and responsibilities associated with raising children. Join us from 9:00 – 12:00 on Saturday, March 5th for “Forged!”

Elementary Super Reader Week

We are excited to share with you about our 1st Super Reader Week! Super Reader Week will take place February 28-March 4th. This week coincides with Read Across America Week highlighting Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We have planned a fun filled week highlighting the great importance of reading.

Super Reader Week will include a Dr. Seuss' environment throughout the elementary with decorated doors and hallways, Dr. Seuss Dress Up Days, a special reading time with a Super Reader during library class, special Dr. Seuss activities, and a Reading Celebration Day.

Reading is the most precious gift and skill anyone can receive and learn. There are so many benefits of reading. We understand the great importance that reading provides to children in the early years. Before children learn to read, the benefits of parents reading to their children are phenomenal. Research shows that children who are read to at early ages have greater cognitive and language development, better listening skills, expanded vocabulary, greater attention span, and deeper creativity. Starting early cultivates a lifelong love of reading along with preparing them for academic success. My encouragement to all parents is to never take the special 20 minute reading time each night for granted. It is not only a special bonding moment with your child, but it is strengthening your child in so many beneficial ways for a successful academic future.

It is a joy to be a part of a school that takes great pride in developing strong readers. We are beyond blessed to share our love for reading with your child(ren) every day. We are looking forward to a super fun week celebrating our little lion readers.

Love Where We Live

This week, our 10th Grade students were the hands and feet of Christ at Montgomery Village as they loaded grocery bags for the Baptist Center market, picked up around the campus, and took part in a Bible study. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community as we continue to strive to develop servant leaders for Christ.
