Landscaping: One last Dirt Club for the year!

The Mills Dirt Club will have one final landscaping day on December 12, 9-11 am. This will be the last chance of 2019 to come out and improve our school grounds.

There will be a variety of tasks to do, from easy to arduous...so you can choose how sore you want to be on the 13th!

No tools required, although you may want to bring a pair of gloves and a water bottle. Hope to see you there!

Winter Book Fair

The annual Barnes & Noble Winter Book Fair is coming the weekend of Dec. 13th -15th. The weekend event will kick off at 6pm that Friday evening with the Polar Express, an adventure trip through the bookstore for the little ones, followed by Mills Mountain Lion blue milk and hot cocoa. Saturday will be filled with fun events, as Mills teachers and staff read stories (various times from 10am – 6pm) and the Mills choir performs (at 2:15pm). Milo the Mountain Lion will make an appearance on Saturday to pose for pictures as well. The fundraising event will wrap up Sunday afternoon. All purchases made in the store, café and online during this time, if the Mills fundraising code is mentioned during time of purchase, will benefit the Mills fundraiser for Literacy. [Digital books/audio files/gift cards are excluded.] The fundraising code will be advertised in December. There will be a Mills volunteer table at Barnes & Noble that will be passing out stickers with the fundraising code, along with reward passes.

This year we are hoping to spend the majority of funds on replacing old sets of books from the literacy library, as well as new books for our library. We will not be soliciting at this fundraiser, but we will need volunteers on hand to greet Mills families, answer questions regarding the fundraiser and hand out Mills stickers with the fundraising code to those Mills families that are interested. Please consider signing up for a 1.5-hour time slot to volunteer, while you’re out wrapping up your holiday shopping. The signup genius link to volunteer is as follows: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F084DA5A72AA64-2019.

Any questions regarding this event can be directed to the librarians, Sarah Rasmussen (sarah.rasmussen@austinisd.org) or Jan Higgs (jan.higgs@austinisd.org).
