Swim Night at the Snyder’s
Thanks, Snyders, for once again hosting the youth! You are appreciated. (Nicolette feels we should do this every week, by the way!) After the summer of 2020 (which Caitlin says is a year we don't talk about) it was pretty awesome to be able to enjoy our traditional swim and s'more time! We had a great meal (thank you again to our generous donor), made some new friends, had a time of devotion, and then jumped in the pool. We finished the night by roasting marshmallows and relaxing. For once, we didn't even have any rain. It was an absolutely fabulous night! Thank you to all who participated and made this such a fun event.

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"Take delight in the Lord today! He loves us so much. I went to my brother-in-law Dennis’s celebration of life service this weekend and that is where God gave me the Word for this week. It was such a moving service, full of love, laughter and tears of a life so well lived and so well deserved of that celebration. God was certainly there with us and we could feel His presence. He is with us in everything we go through every day. I am so thankful for that."

My Word for this week is “PICTURE.” As I looked at each “picture” that my sister had so carefully chosen, there was a sweet story to tell in every one of them. The old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” rang so true. In each “picture” was love, smiles, happiness, family, friends, adventure, more love, and so many memories. As I was watching the “picture” appear and disappear on the screen I thought to myself, take the “picture,” tell the story, share the love, share the memory. I am praying this week that we spend more time with the Holy Spirit, so we see the “picture” so specially painted for us all. A “picture” of love, compassion, sweet memories to share the story with others. Stories of redeeming grace the Father has for us all. Take your “picture,” tell your story. There is someone out there anxious to hear!"

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the skies announce what his hands have made.
Day after day they tell the story; night after night they tell it again. They have no speech or words; they have no voice to be heard. But their message goes out through all the world; their words go everywhere on earth. The sky is like a home for the sun.
~ Psalm 19:1-4 (NCV)

Free GG Produce This Sunday

As zucchini does, ours has taken off and grown like crazy. We had more than we could use for our CSA subscribers this week. Look for a zucchini table on Sunday when you come to Worship and take one home. Bigger zucchinis are still terrific for shredding to make bread, cookies, and casseroles galore. Shredded zucchini freezes well, so you could pull a bit of summer out of your freezer in December! The button below will take you to some helpful zucchini tips and recipes.

Welcome Home, Fishers!

We had special visitors that came to see us this week - Peggy and Don Fisher! It was a treat to have the youth here and get to visit with the Fishers. We are all grateful that the vaccine has let us get back to hugging!

News of the Week

There are yummy flavors of Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam available, including summer favorites made with our own strawberries and Dillon's blueberries. Check out the GG table to enjoy the summer goodness!

We are definitely deep into the growing season. The harvest of zucchinis and cucumbers this week was unbelievable! It is so exciting to see the hard work of gardening come to fruition!

This week was a busy one. We hosted the Youth Group on Tuesday and we really appreciate their help as we work on making trails through the woods more accessible. We are glad they will be back in August, with their high spirits and willing hands! The youth were even able to enjoy a butterfly release with us after we all ate lunch. This week also found us planting an assortment of leafy greens, onions, and microgreens for our CSA subscribers to enjoy later in the season. We also harvested, weeded, mowed and weed-whacked. Outside work was made much more pleasant by these cooler temperatures.

Our other big news was an amazing donation of seeds from the Liberty WalMart, due to our friend Barb thinking of GG. Thanks, Barb!! We are stunned and excited by the variety and amount of wonderful seeds, for everything from jalapenos to strawberries to nasturtiums. We already planted some today!

Next week we will be welcoming youth from Western Reserve United Methodist Church to a Service Day here. Our old friend, Lisa Velker, has been here before with Canfield Pres. Now she will be bringing a whole new crop of young people to learn about and volunteer at GG!

We are also glad to arrange a jam pick up at GG.

OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Goodness Grows

The non-profit ministry of Common Ground Church Community, Goodness Grows is always busy on our property. GG works with students and adults with disabilities, providing vocational habilitation training in a fun, hands-on way. The GG crew maintains the grounds and cleans the building.

Easy Ways to Support GG:
1. Online Shopping ~ If you shop Amazon, anytime during the year, you can support GG for free at the same time! Just use Amazon Smile and choose Goodness Grows as your charity of choice. Then, you get your items and we get 0.5% of the purchase price through this program! Check it out online at smile.amazon.com.
2. Volunteering ~ Give of your time and get back lots of love & smiles! We enjoy having people pitch in to help with weeding, jam making, crafting, gardening...whatever we're working on. Maybe you even have a skill you could teach us!
3. Donating Items ~ We always need basic jam making supplies such as regular 8oz. canning jars, lids, sugar, and white vinegar. Supplies for gardening and crafting also much appreciated.
4. Purchasing Our Products ~ Proceeds from jam & crafts go right back into our programs.
5. Charitable Giving ~ As a small non-profit, Goodness Grows depends upon generous supporters. A contribution to Goodness Grows is tax-deductible, to the extent allowed by law. When you research organizations to support, please consider a gift (one-time or on-going) to Goodness Grows. Your donations help us continue our mission of working with people of all abilities. Our clients receive paychecks for the work they do here. Those paychecks are funded entirely by charitable donations and product sales. Money we receive from the state for being a DODD work site may not be used to pay the clients.

There is good work being done here and we would love for you to be a part of it!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
