10 Tips for Sewing Room Organization + A New Quilt Tutorial!

Hello friends!

Tomorrow begins my favorite month of the year! September is always stunning here in Utah - still warm and beautiful weather, but not as hot. AND now that kids are back in school, we start to get back into the rhythm of our regular routines. It's going to be a busy month here - more on that below - but I'm determined to enjoy it as much as possible.

I'm also excited to finally share this new tutorial that I've been working on!

This quilt has been in the works since June and I'm finally sharing it's cuteness, plus all of the details for how I made it. (It's SOoooo simple!)

This Baby Bricks crib-size quilt is a great beginner project and it's Fat Quarter friendly - or a great one for busting through your stash!

Now that kids are back to school and we're gradually getting back into our routines again, I'm always in the mood to try and get my house organized. (Especially after all of our house renovations.)

If you're starting to feel that itch to clean up your space too, Andy from A Bright Corner shares 10 practical tips to help you get your sewing space organized.

Also on the blog this week: Shelly of Coral + Co shares a really simple, no-sew tutorial for this cute heirloom Christmas ornament.

They're so simple (and inexpensive) to make that they would be great gifts to mass-produce for friends and neighbors.

And now's your chance to get a head start!

Other fun finds on the web this week:

How cute is this little black & white house mini quilt?! It's a free pattern from Bev at Flamingo Toes. I'm thinking it might be fun to make a Halloween version with mini pumpkins!

Do you have a collection of sweatshirts you don't know what to do with? Or maybe you have a kid going off to college that would love a memorable gift of memorabilia. The Polkadot Chair has a clever tutorial for a self-binding Sweatshirt quilt.

Lori Holt has started another amazing sew-along - this one for her gorgeous Granny's Garden quilt. You do need to purchase the templates for the shapes, but the rest of the pattern/sew-along is free on Lori's blog. I'm adding this one to my list!

September is going to be an exciting month around here!

In two weeks I'll be teaching at the Garden of Quilts event in Utah, hosted by Riley Blake Designs and Thanksgiving Point.

My class is sold out, but I will be giving a trunk show, sharing my quilts, on Saturday morning. The trunk show is included in the cost of admission to the show!

Later this month I'll be in Hamilton, Missouri participating in the Missouri Star Quilt Company annual Birthday Bash!

AND on top of all of that fun, I get to experience my first root canal!

It's going to be a memorable month. Hopefully the quilting extravaganza fun will erase all memory of the dental work.

Have a great week!
