Climate Grief Support and Conversation Group

climate grief

Mark your calendar: Thursday May 5th from 6 to 8pm at the Good Work Institute's Greenhouse at 65 St. James Street.
“We are picking up distress signals, as living beings on this planet” - Jenny Bates.
Initiated by Kingston Transition's Jenny Bates, this is the first meeting of this group. It is free and open to anyone who has concerns about the climate, about our City of Kingston, and who are stressed about an uncertain future.
Grief is not easily processed alone. The grief felt, consciously or unconsciously regarding the planet is on a scale previously unknown to our species. This series of conversations is an opportunity to share and verbalize what is felt in the context of group that will be facilitated with care, support and a sense of belonging in a confidential and fully respectful manner.

You can listen to Micah of GWI and Jenny speak about this topic on The Good Work Hour

Kingstonian Update

A detailed public presentation updating the Kingstonian project will be held at a special Planning Board meeting on Monday May 9th at 6pm. On Tuesday, May 17th there will be a public hearing on the project. Both meetings are hybrid, participants can join via zoom or in person at the City Council chambers. The Planning Board got a sneak preview of some of the changes recently made by the Kingstonian developers late last month. They are bringing on board another developer who has more experience with the new Stretch Code, initiated by the City, which is stricter than the new NY state energy requirements. In their remarks the developers said they expected the whole building to be electric with EV chargers in the garage, now with 427 parking spots on three levels and valet parking for the hotel.
