GROW Members and GROW Supporters,
The Co-Ed Golf Scramble benefits our mentoring programs and last year we implemented a charitable arm whereas we are awarding scholarships to deserving students. Meet Chyna Germany, our 2017 scholarship recipient. Chyna has been awarded a $500 scholarship from GROW.
My name is Chyna Germany. For my entire life, I have resided here in Nashville, TN where I attended Julia Green Elementary School, Head Middle Magnet, and most recently graduated from Martin Luther King Academic Magnet High School. From elementary school until now, I have acquired many long-lasting friendships and lessons that have and will be useful to me as I navigate through the next phases of my life. In my time here in Nashville, I have learned the importance of a “village;” having those in and outside of your family who work to support you and help you on your journey throughout life such as my track team who annually helped to conduct golf tournaments for the elderly to raise money for our club. For this I am truly grateful.
For the next four years of my life, I will be attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where I will dedicate my time and effort into the study of Nursing. Although this will be challenging academically, socially, and emotionally as I try and adapt to the college life and the changes I face, I will always give my 110 percent so that I may excel and serve as an educator and leader in my community as well as those around me, giving back, and helping to create a healthier, safer, and more preventative society. This scholarship that has been given to me from the GROW committee has made this goal much more attainable for me and words cannot truly express how thankful I am for your support and kindness to my family and me. Thank you for choosing me as a scholarship recipient!
Again, we are excited about growing the game of golf and more importantly helping others grow (on and off the course). Thank you for your support.
