| Lions Weekly: October 26, 2022 | A Note From Mr. Sandefur Lion Families, I pray that you are having an incredible week and that you were able to join us for one of our many amazing Homecoming 2022 activities last week. Our campus was full of activity and excitement as students enjoyed many opportunities for fun and fellowship. As you may have seen in my recent update email regarding our mission partners, TKA is diligently seeking to impact students both locally and globally. Upon arriving on campus a little over eighteen months ago, the need for us to expand our global impact as a renowned international boarding school became a renewed priority. For many reasons, most of which involved the pandemic, our reach to the nations had not been as prevalent as previously nor as desired due to the inability to travel and interact. Over the coming months and seasons, you will see increased opportunities for students and families to participate in the mission of developing servant leaders that will change the world for Christ. This will come in multiple forms; including but not limited to mission trips, resource collection, emphasis chapels, and much more. Please join me as we pray that our students will develop a love for the gospel and the nations. Lastly, I’d like to personally invite you to attend two events. The first is our last home football game of the year this Friday night as we honor our seniors and celebrate our fall sports teams. And finally, I hope to see you Saturday at our Fall Festival. All funds raised on Saturday go directly to classrooms and organizations, so please come out and support your TKA Lions! Both day and boarding students participate in grade-level mission projects to develop a deeper understanding of God’s creation and to inspire a culture of service. Yesterday we launched another Love Where We Live project for the 2022-23 school year! Our 9th and 12th grade Lions served alongside our facilities team to help prepare Atchley Hall for the J.T. Shen Science Center renovations to begin. We are excited about many more service opportunities throughout this school year as we seek to develop servant leaders that will change the world for Christ! | Principal Appreciation Month October is National Principals' Month. We want to take time and celebrate our two TKA Principals! Mr. Fuller is our middle and high school principal, and Ms. Sullivan oversees our elementary department as their principal. This is Mr. Fuller’s fourth year at TKA and Ms. Sullivan’s fifth year at TKA. Both principals go above and beyond each day to serve our students, teachers, and families. We at TKA are thankful for Mr. Fuller and Ms. Sullivan! If you pass them in the hallways, give them a high five, fist bump, or even a hug to thank them for all they do daily to help our TKA Lions! | Homecoming 2022 Recap Our first few days of Blast From the Past was an exciting time on campus as we celebrated the 70s and had a pep rally, parade and football game. All visitors for elementary must enter the front door of the Ogle Building in order to receive a visitor's pass. This pass should be visible at all times so that TKA faculty and staff know that you have checked in at the office. Our doors are open to visitors, but please call ahead of time to schedule conferences with your child’s teachers. This will prevent interruptions to instruction and the loss of the valuable learning time of our students. Adults will not be allowed to wander the halls of the building or hold conferences with teachers during instructional times. TKA family lunch visitors should follow the above procedure. Lunch tickets are $5 each. Students who are not enrolled at TKA are not permitted to visit TKA students during the school day, which includes lunch. This policy has been developed in order to help maintain a safe and instruction focused environment at school each day. Any visitor who does not meet these expectations may be asked to leave school grounds. | | |
