Feeling like time was fast and slow this year?!

We sure do. Miriam and I would like to send a big thank you to everyone who has had to weather the rollercoaster of bookings and cancellations this year.

Thank you so much for your support of this small business that has truly weathered a storm. In September this year, our turnover was 5% of what it had been for the same period in 2019, we know so many of you who have experienced the same. We can't complain though, but we really just wanted to say how much your messages of support have meant to us. We don't always get back as fast as we like, and if by any chance we've missed thanking you personally, we really want you to know how grateful we are for your kindness.

So now, as we head into the unchartered waters of a new variant and new year, we are hanging in there.

Coming back to the Canine Ed shop in 2022 will be ToughTugz, who are now able to resume making their fabulous tug toys, we will let you know when they land.

Also coming in 2022, Nat Kirkwood, Lynn Madden and Maria Thiry will be back (dates to be confirmed for Maria), we are working on dates for Mike Shikashio and Moira Hechenleitner DVM, CSAT (Separation Anxiety).

Hoopers is back in February. We have a full group for Introduction to Hoopers but if you want to join, I am happy to run a second group subject to interest, email Lisa at info@canineeducationaus.com

In addition to Intro to Hoopers, we are adding Hoopers - Novice Skills and Sequencing for those of you who have either done Hoopers before or have started out in other dogs sports.

Agility for Fun is back too! This is perfect for those of you thinking whether agility is for you or just want to have some fun in motion with your dogs

Lastly, this week I've seen three people who are worried about how their pets are going to cope with visitors after so long in isolation, so I've included this great read from Fear Free Happy Homes. Click to read here

We wish you a peaceful holiday season, good health, firm friends and joyful dogs for 2022.

With gratitude,
Lisa & Miriam

Specials in the Canine Ed Shop

We have some beautiful new pods just landed in new colours too! Pup pods are awesome toys for 101 uses, we use these regularly here for increasing drive, as a target for dogs, or to even give you a moment between reps to have a brain break while your dog snuffles in the ball to get their cookies and to help keep training in a lovely loop.

Santa Claws’ Milk & Cookies

Perfect for Toppl's and other 'cup' style feeders, you could even freeze this in a paper cup (just remove the paper before feeding and feed outside), or use on a lickimat bowl or plate.

Ingredients & Materials
Portion of your dog’s meal (could be kibble or raw) I utilized approximately 2/3 C of raw food total
* 3 Tbsp Plain yogurt or Open Farm Kefir
* 2-3 Fresh Mint or Parsley leaves
* 3 Fresh or Dried cranberries
* 3-4 Tbsp Chopped Cooked Chicken or Turkey
* Sprinkle Cinnamon
* Dog Cookie of Choice
* Large or small Toppl® or other dog safe feeder.

Directions
* Plug the side hole of your Toppl with wine cork
* Place a portion of your dog’s meal inside the base of Toppl.
* Add a bit of chopped chicken or turkey, and layer with sprinkle of your dog’s meal on top.
* If using kibble, add 1-2 spoons of bone broth onto the kibble, leaving about a small finger-width gap between the contents and the top lip of the Toppl—that’s where the “icing” (aka yogurt or kefir) goes.
* Freeze the Toppl for minimum 4 hours.
* With a small spoon or squeeze bottle, slowly fill the remaining top of the Toppl with yogurt or Kefir.
* Sprinkle one small pinch cinnamon into the center.
* Once the Toppl is filled, place a cranberry with two mint leaves (or parsley sprigs) on top for safe mistletoe look.
* Garnish with a dog cookie of choice into the side, resting on the lip.
* If your dog has been EXTRA good, place a Qwizl “Canine Candy Cane” in the top, like a festive straw.
* Place back into the freezer for minimum 4 hours.
* Remove from freezer (and uncork the side hole!)

The Canine Ed Podcast

Did you know Canine Ed has a podcast? We have done a handful of episodes but our Canine Gut Biome podcast has now reached over 2000 downloads. It was a great chat with Dr Matt Muir and we hope you have a chance to listen to this one, the gut is really vital aspect of our animal's health, as well as ours, and we discuss some really simple ways to look after our dog's tummies.
