TWUUpdate

Trinity Western University continues to contend for its constitutional freedoms of association, conscience, religion and expression currently being challenged by law societies in British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Prior to this year, Appeals Courts ruled in favour of TWU in B.C. and Nova Scotia, and against TWU in Ontario. These decisions were recently appealed in each province and it seems the battle is headed to the Supreme Court in the near future.

TWU'S ONTARIO DEFEAT

The Ontario Court of Appeals ruled on June 29th that the province's law society was reasonable in their decision to withhold accreditation from TWU students. The court acknowledged that TWU's freedom of religion WAS infringed upon but ruled that it was justified! Not only is this disappointing but also deeply concerning as it demonstrates that our Chartered freedom of religion has become secondary to the demands of the LGBTQ community in Ontario.

Trinity Western has vowed to appeal this decision in the Supreme Court of Canada.

BIG TWU VICTORY IN NOVA SCOTIA!

Just last week, Trinity Western celebrated a tremendous victory when the Nova Scotia Court of Appeals upheld the lower courts' decision in favour of the school. Incredibly, the law society was also ordered to pay TWU's $35,000 in legal costs!

We are celebrating and thanking God for this victory!

PRAYERS NEEDED: THE BATTLE CONTINUES

The battle continues as TWU awaits the decision of the BC Court of Appeals and as they have already announced they will take the Ontario ruling to the Supreme Court.

Please continue to pray:

For wisdom and favour for those fighting on behalf of Trinity Western University;
That the judges in the B.C. Appeals Court would follow Nova Scotia's lead and uphold the original ruling in favour of TWU.
That the Supreme Court of Canada would confirm the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms by defending TWU and their law school;
That this would set a precedent for future cases, not only for TWU but for all Christian schools, institutions, employers, churches and individuals.

Thank you for your prayers. May God keep our land glorious and FREE!
