Crazy for Ewe this week

Berroco1

TNNA!

The shop will be closed this weekend while Ginni, Mary, Antonella and I are at TNNA. TNNA is the national trade show for all things yarn. Distributors, manufacturers, and designers bring their new stuff to dazzle shop owners. And dazzle us they do. Each company's booth overflows with yarn, sample garments and more. The larger companies have huge spaces some stretching across 8 or 10 booths. Their displays are like static fashion shows creating a particular mood and highlighting their fashion story for the season. I always like to see what's glittering at Tahki Stacy Charles and Prism Yarns. Smaller companies with single booths manage to create unique and inviting spaces with a carefully branded color scheme and tiny treats to lure us in.

At TNNA we get to talk with the industry professionals. We can hear directly from Warren Wheelock at Berroco about continue reading

June First Friday Project

June 2016

We unveiled the June First Friday project last week - Jena, a fun little top inspired by Eileen Fisher. I've talked before about how I like simple shapes, and this is an example of how to choose a beautiful yarn and let it take the lead.

Berroco Mykonos is a yarn with a bit of a split personality. It's a cotton linen fiber mix with a wrapped construction. Summer Mystery Knitalong

white gray periwinkle

Just one of the pretty color combinations

Our summer mystery knitalong is ready to launch! Mary has chosen a great wrap worked in Pima Kuri, a silky soft, cotton in juicy colors to brighten your summer wardrobe. Pima Kuri is a worsted weight yarn, so the project goes really fast - you'll be wearing it before This one is an easy pattern, so even relatively new knitters can join in the fun.

It takes three skeins, and we've selected a few favorite combinations to inspire you, but picking the colors is the best part, so come in the shop and see them in person.

Kick off is Saturday, June 18, just before the Summer Solstice!

Come by the shop to choose your colors! Can't make it to the shop? We'll be posting coordinated kits this week, so you can be part of it wherever you are!

Jenny's back, and I promise that she will make you fall head over heels in love with socks. If you've never knit a pair, this is where your sock journey begins. Using worsted weight yarn and two circular needles, Jenny will take it from the top -- literally. You'll complete a beautiful pair of socks from cuff to toe, and really understand what's happening throughout. All those fiddly parts are so much easier when Jenny takes you though the process. Everything's a little easier and at this gauge, not to mention faster. After this class, you'll be ready for her other, more advanced classes that feature finer gauge yarns Continue reading
