FCC New Member Spotlight:

KidSafe Foundation

The Florida Coalition for Children is thrilled to welcome one of our newest members joining the Coalition in 2019, KidSafe Foundation!

KidSafe Foundation’s mission is to provide preventive education to children and adults, empowering them with skills that create a safe society free from sexual abuse, bullying, and internet exploitation.

Founded in 2009, KidSafe was dedicated to creating a meaningful practical method of prevention where no child sexual abuse and exploitation existed.

KidSafe provides various programs that empower children in our community by giving them a strong voice with which to defend themselves. Programs include:

▪ KidSafe for Kids - an eight week curriculum designed for children in grades PreK4 through fifth grade,
▪ KidSafe Parent Seminars - curriculum designed to increase awareness, deliver knowledge and provide skills to parents to keep kids safe, and
▪ KidSafe Teacher Workshop - online training on how to recognize children at risk for abuse, professional protocol, exact mandated reporting procedures and how to respond to disclosure.

FCC Committee Spotlight

For fiscal years 2016-2020, FCC and the FCC Foundation have developed and are following a strategic plan which includes key priorities and various strategic priority workgroups/subcommittees.

Each of these subcommittees and its members is focused on advancing the key priorities of FCC and FCCF’s strategic plan to partner statewide with the common goal of improving the ways in which we serve vulnerable children in our communities.

The Quality Assurance subcommittee draws upon the principles of performance excellence, assessments of practice and analysis of child welfare indicators and outcomes to inform the FCC’s advocacy efforts on behalf of Florida’s abused, neglected, and at-risk children and to the agencies and individuals who work on their behalf.

For more information, please contact Co-Chairs, Darci Lolley, and Farima Farabash.

Charlie, now a junior at North Broward Prep, began to get his friends involved about five years ago, and that's when their collective impact really began to take off.

Tampa Bay Times - January 28, 2019
Eckerd Connects has a long history of partnering with our community in operating the largest child welfare system in Florida. Our system of care has historically been one of the highest performing jurisdictions statewide. However, we are reaching a breaking point.

OPINION: The Future of Child Welfare in Florida
Tampa Bay Times - February 1, 2019
Sadly, we’ve been here before: A tragedy involving the death of a child, followed by calls to investigate and promises to improve Florida’s child welfare system. Here we are again talking about what went wrong, why kids are falling through the cracks and what needs to be done to prevent something like the tragic death of 2-year-old Jordan Belliveau in Largo.
