Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "This is the day the Lord has made – I will rejoice! It is sunny and bright today – makes everything much better. In a couple weeks we will celebrate Resurrection Sunday. It is such a special time of the year – all things made new. Is there anything we can do to make things new? Well I am glad you asked because that leads me right into this week’s WORD, “EXERCISE.” "Now keep reading, I am not a fan of “exercise” either. It takes everything I have to “exercise,” so I get it. I am working at getting better at it, so I hope this encouragement helps me! Merriam-Webster's definition of “exercise” is to use repeatedly to strengthen or develop. Well, well, well – isn’t that interesting? God reminded me it is just not the physical “exercise” we need but the spiritual “exercise” as well. We need to “exercise” in our prayer, reading the Word, spending time with the Holy Spirit, fasting, worshiping, basking in His presence. That will strengthen and develop our relationship with Him. I am sure the majority of you who get my encouragement every week already know this but sometimes (I) we need to be reminded. Our desire should be to grow stronger in Him, so that spending time with Him is our number one priority above all. We need to “exercise” time with Him. He is so worthy of our time. He loves us so much and wants only the best for all of us. We think we must buy the right things in order to help us “exercise,” but God has equipped us with everything we need to “exercise” with Him...our whole heart! Join me this week in “exercise.” You’ve been raised on the Message of the faith and have followed sound teaching. Now pass on this counsel to the followers of Jesus there, and you’ll be a good servant of Jesus. Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion. Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart. ~ 1 Timothy 4:6-9 (MSG) | Easter Devotionals Our Daily Bread booklets for Easter readings are available. Pick one up for your family and take an extra to share with a friend! 1 Corinthians 1:18 ~ "The message of the cross... is the very power of God." | April Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11am Pastoral Intern Austin Young will be preaching on April 30, which is Benevolence Sunday. His mom brought his favorite meal, we sang Happy Birthday, and enjoyed time together. Happy Birthday, Shawn! A highlight of our week was baking amazing Ube Crinkle Cookies. (What is an Ube Crinkle? Also known as purple yam crinkles, they are Filipino cookies made from purple yam extract, flour, eggs, baking powder, butter, and sugar. They are characteristically deep purple in color and are typically rolled in powdered sugar or glazed. They have a crunchy exterior and a soft chewy center.) Despite ending up with some colorful fingers, everyone enjoyed these beautiful and unusual treats! When not eating and celebrating, our crew got plenty of work done. They cut up some fallen trees, picked up branches, did some fix-it jobs outside, cleaned inside and more. We also enjoyed a visit with our friends Don & Peggy Fisher. There's nothing like a visit from good friends! We're all looking forward to tomorrow, as Crestview will be returning to work with us for the spring season. We love having our classroom friends here! Hopefully some of our other classrooms will be able to return as well. Our big news this week, that you can read more about by using the button below, is that our CSA program is now full for 2023! Using cyanotype, a photo-chemical printmaking process, the artist first captures the silhouette of different flora onto paper and fabric. Then, on top of these cyanotype backgrounds, she block prints hand carved images of the same plants or corresponding insects.
