Caring Heroes lead the way
Springhill Care Group is highlighting the unsung heroes of social care who often go the extra mile to ensure the service keeps going for older people, the vulnerable and seriously ill.
Springhill Care says employees in the social care sector are working in an industry which is increasingly underfunded and undervalued.
Donna Briggs, managing director of Springhill Care, said: “Very often these committed, kind and caring individuals are the only people a vulnerable person may see from one day to the next.

Happy 22nd birthday to Tom
Tom, one of the young gentlemen we support at Affinity, recently marked a special occasion, his 22nd birthday.
With his family and friends around him, Tom enjoyed a party thrown in his honour, with balloons, banners and party poppers aplenty.
Happy birthday Tom, we hope you had a great time celebrating.
Creative Christmas lists
Lisa and Stuart, two of the people we support at Affinity, spent time recently creating their own colourful Christmas lists.
Armed with glue, magazines and plenty of craft supplies, the pair picked items they would like to receive, and stuck them to card paper.
We all had a great time making the lists, and getting into the Christmas spirit.
A Christmas cracker of a meal
The Commercial Hotel in Accrington was the venue when Affinity staff and the people we support enjoyed a Christmas celebration recently.
We all tucked into a delicious three course meal, with some donning Santa hats and reindeer antlers, really getting into the festive spirit.
Lisa, one of the ladies we support, said she had a brilliant time and it was great seeing everyone.

All the fun at our festive fair
Birch Green staff and residents were happy to welcome family, friends and members of the public into our home when we held a Christmas fair recently.
We were joined by the wonderful Skelmersdale Community Singers, who performed a selection of tunes to get us in the festive spirit, while a range of stalls containing gifts made by Birch Green residents provided the chance to get some much needed Christmas shopping done.
Riversway residents Olive, Jeane, Pam and Lucy enjoyed the delights of Whitehall Garden Centre’s Christmas displays on a recent visit.
There was a beautiful winter themed Cinderella display, wonderful decorated trees, and mechanical animals including polar bears, reindeers and love birds.
Christmas by candlelight
Residents from Riversway Nursing Home joined the crowds at Bristol Cathedral recently for an advent procession.
The cathedral was the venue for a wonderful ceremony which saw candles lit across the beautiful building.
It was stunning to experience the choir singing by candlelight and we can’t wait to visit again.
Singing in Christmas at Riversway
Everyone at Riversway Nursing Home got into the Christmas spirit as we held our annual residents’ party.
Talented local singer Rob Cook joined us for the occasion, as we spent the afternoon singing and dancing with family and friends.
The festive season is a wonderful time of year and it’s great to see so many friends and families joining us and admiring the colourful decorations.
With Christmas round the corner it was a great way to start counting down to the day itself. We’d like to wish all visitors to Riversway a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Christmas with style at Springhill
Springhill Care Home held its annual Christmas Party for residents and their families recently.
With entertainment, dancing, gifts and plenty of party food, everyone got into the spirit of the occasion.
Staff including Springhill Care Group chairman Ken Nolan stopped by to join in the fun, and a visit from Father Christmas put smiles on faces.
