International Credit Union (ICU) Day celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. On this day we recognize the credit union movement's history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work and share member experiences. International Credit Union (ICU) Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948.
At LES People's, we celebrate ICU Day to raise awareness of the hard work that credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world, and their collaboration with other cooperative industries. We also celebrate our members and their experiences and support!
This year the international theme is Building Financial Health for a Brighter Tomorrow.
We want to invite our members to share their stories of building financial health for brighter futures and we'll share some of these experiences on social media.
We will also dust off some old pictures we just happened to find in a box while cleaning our basement at the Lower East Side branch! They'll help us to remember how people, dreams and actions from the past brought us to where we are today. Stay tuned for our pictures on Facebook and Instagram.
As with every year, we'll have goodies and snacks on Thursday, October 21 for visitors to any of our three branches!
We are thankful to look back on 35 years of achievements, as well as adversity, and most of all, of our members' support.
