Vicki Welsh January News - New fabric!

Jan 2 luras choice 2

Happy New Year! I hope your year is getting off to a good start. For me it started great by finally getting the quilting finished on this quilt. It has been on the quilt frame since May! Now I can get it blocked, bound and finished...hopefully before the end of the year.

2016 UFO Busting Projects

Speaking of finishing, I am once again hosting the UFO Busting challenge. Last year just the exercise of keeping a list helped me keep control over how many new projects that I start. I'm doing it again this year and inviting you to join me. Let's get some projects done and make space for shiny new projects! Check out the details here.

Customer Gallery

Have you made anything from fabrics that you have purchased from me? If so, you have an opportunity to win your own personal 25% discount code on non-sale items for shopping in my shop! I have a Flickr group for customers to share photos of completed projects made with my fabrics. You are welcome to share any projects in process as well but only completed projects are entered into the drawing. Each month I draw a winner from the entries for that month. The winner receives a personal 90-day 25% discount for shop purchases. The winner will be announced here in the newsletter each month. You can see all of the customer projects in the Flickr Group. All other entries for the month will receive a 30-day 15% discount!

I'm very excited to have 4 great projects to share today!

Horse-Silhouette- Gene Black

The winner of this month's 25% discount is Gene Black! Gene made this horse silhouette as a comission piece. The blue and orange/tan background pieces are all from the Southwest gradient.

Chery Bradley baby quilt

The second entry this month is Chery Bradley's lovely baby quilt. She ordered has a custom dyed background of a lighter shade of Under The Sea. I think it worked great in this adorable quilt. Chery wins a 15%, 30-day discount.

Clyda Prosen

The third entry is from Clyda Prosen. Her beautiful pelican wall hanging is made using the Red Sunset gradient and the pelican is done with beautiful thread work. Clyda also wins a 15% 30-day discount.

Louse Hall

This last piece is from Louise Hall. I got to see previews if this last Spring when I met Louise at AQS Lancaster. I'm so happy that she shared the finished art quilt with us. She says it's the first in a series and that makes me very happy! Louise wins a 15% discount!

Be sure to check out the other great projects submitted by customers and add yours for a chance to win the discount next month. Everyone wins!

Inspiration

Here's something fun that I just found today. Danielle Clough is a multifaceted artist but today we are going to focus on her embroidery. Her embroidery is like a modern version of crewel embroidery (to my eyes). She has several themes that she follows but I was drawn in by her embroidery using tennis racquets as her canvas. She is incredibly talented! You can see all of her work here.
