Hi Member,

This week I finally got around to updating our 'Social Media Cheat Sheet'. This is a resource I use all the time as it lists the best image sizes for all of the social media platforms. If I missed something, just let me know and I'll add it in. Also this week we have another 'Vettips from VetPrac', this one is focusing on gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Thanks to everyone who entered in the draw to win a copy of Dr Alex Hynes new book, First Call For Dogs. It was a very tough choice, but scroll down & you'll see the winner.

We'd also like to congratulate Dr Jessica Norman, Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic, Coombabah for recently winning The Rotary Prode of Workmanship Award. It's awesome to see Community recognition for someone in our industry.

Our aim is to help you - save time, connect & discover!

Enjoy your reading :)

We'll be in contact shortly Felice, to organise getting your copy of 'First call for Dogs' to you.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Book Giveaway. It was really hard choosing a winner as you all had such great reasons for wanting your own copy. (I much prefer a random draw and just leaving everything to chance!)

Thank you also to Alex for providing a copy of her book 'First Call For Dogs' for us to giveaway.

Congratulations Dr Jessica Norman - The Rotary Pride of Workmanship Award

Pride of workmanship 2 3

Dr Vanessa Escott (Practice Owner) and Dr Jessica Norman

We love sharing good news - and when someone in the veterinary industry receives recognition from the Community then that's news worth sharing!

Dr Jessica Norman from Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic, Coombabah, Gold Coast, recently won The Rotary Pride of Workmanship Award.

This Award seeks to recognise individuals, who in the eyes of their employer and clients, show a distinct quality in their approach, attitude and dedication to their job. The award through Rotary provides management with an opportunity to publicly recognise employees who go above and beyond.

Dr Jessica Norman deserved recognition for her sense of commitment and ability to do her job consistently well.

Avoiding those 'emotional fires'...

Three Unexpected Phrases That Act As Emotional Fire Fighters

Dr Dave Nicol

Love this recent post from Dr Dave Nicol...
"One of the most important things you eventually work out when you have to manage people is that 90% of the challenge is managing yourself - and in particular your emotional responses to events that occur."

The three pieces pieces of advice that meant so much to Dave?
"Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” - Source unknown. Spray painted on the side of a Combi-van somewhere on the east coast of Australia.

“Don't ascribe to malice what can more likely be explained by incompetence.” - Source unknown. Heard on the Tim Ferriss Show.

“See things as they are, not worse than they are.” - Tony Robbins.

Dave believes that each of these quotes "..speaks directly to our innate, prehistoric human ability to see danger and catastrophe around every corner. The fight or flight response managed by our adrenalised limbic system." And they can help to put out the emotional fires that we can unecessarily fuel throughout the day.

Click on the link below to find out how you can instead, "...deal in cold hard facts rather than combustible emotions"

7 Tips for Engaging with Non-Responsive Clients

DVMelite Blog

Some clients are easy to talk to - in fact, some talk too much! But then there are other clients who tend to be not so easy and may even shy away from engaging in conversation - making it very difficult to get the information you need to do your job.

"If you’re stumped for how to draw quiet clients out of their shell, here are a few tips for doing so that can produce meaningful conversation in the process."

▪ Be personable
▪ Find a common ground
▪ Make the exam room a judgement-free zone
▪ Dig deeper and be specific
▪ Be gracious and thankful
▪ Relay similar stories
▪ Follow up
