The Vineyard

This week's gospel reading, Jesus tells a parable of the vineyard, an image of Israel, the prophets’ mission, and Christ’s death. For Christians, the vineyard also speaks of God’s love poured out in the blood of Christ, given to us for the forgiveness of sin. Grafted onto Christ the vine at baptism, we are nourished with wine and bread, that we may share Christ’s sufferings and know the power of his resurrection.

Lake Edge Children Need You!

Sermon Activity

A small army of volunteers helps to lead the sermon activity time each Sunday throughout the school year. The goals of this time are for kids to have a chance to spend their energy in constructive, age-appropriate activities during the sermon time; to build relationships across generations; and to allow parents/guardians a chance to enjoy the sermon without worrying about their children. Each Sunday, one adult volunteer is needed to lead the activity. 2-3 confirmation students will join the leader to help with the activity or with general crowd control. Resources are available to help with planning, and some of the Sunday School teachers can help secure supplies.

We need 4 or 5 more volunteers to commit to this ministry in order to make it a success for this school year! Most volunteers help out 2-3 times throughout the year. Are you being called to work with our children? Please contact Pastor Katya if you are interested, or would like more information. Thank you!

He has given several presentations in recent months to Dane County interfaith communities and is a highly recommended speaker. Sergio will address immigration issues in Dane County, and share information on the Dane Sanctuary Coalition, why this should be important to people of faith, and what role churches have played in the Sanctuary movement. He will provide information on how congregations or individual members can assist without making a formal sanctuary declaration.

Holistic Healing Book Study

Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm in the Library

Led by Sally Averkamp

Have you or a loved one ever been given a seemingly incurable diagnosis like: autism, ADHD, MS, interstitial cystitis, cancer, Alzheimer’s, colitis, IBS, or enlarged heart only find years later that people were indeed recovering from it? That has happened to me on a number of occasions as I, first, tried to heal my children and then later, when I tried to heal myself. Unfortunately, I found that these healing methods were not easy to find and, most often, I learned of them as the result of talking to the right person at the right time. In this Book Study, we will discuss one important book each month starting with The Prime: Prepare and Repair Your Body for Spontaneous Weight Loss by Kulreet Chaudhary, MD. on Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm in the Library at Lake Edge Lutheran Church, 4032 Monona Dr, Madison. (Read the reader reviews on Amazon.)
