Have You Heard of Camp SAY?

Camp SAY combines the highest-quality, traditional summer camp experience with comprehensive activities and innovative programs that empower young people who stutter (ages 8-18). Their 2-week residential, American Camp Association (ACA)-accredited camp provides a highly-immersive experience that helps kids & teens who stutter build self-confidence, communication skills and friendships.

Summer 2017 dates are August 1st-15th (shortened stays available). Camp SAY takes place at a 500-acre facility in Hendersonville, NC (near Asheville) and offers an outstanding staff-to-camper ratio. Financial aid available for tuition & travel.

WS Youth Chorus

Winston-Salem Youth Chorus Offers Summer Music Camp

If you have a rising 3rd-6th grade student who desires to grow and develop their singing abilities, make plans to attend Connections Summer Music Camp. The camp will be held August 14-18 from 9am – 2pm at Grace Baptist Church.

Students will sing, learn solfege, music theory and dance, play instruments and integrate other disciplines such as history and science. They will also learn about the style, music, traditions and instruments of American Folk music and music of other cultures such as Africa and Mexico. A special concert will be performed at the end of the week showcasing all of their musical talent.

The Prop Shop Pops Up at Kaleideum Downtown

A new makerspace is opening in April at Kaleideum Downtown! The Prop Shop features a 1,000 square-foot interactive exhibit set in the "backstage" of a theater. Real tools and materials are available for visitors to design and create their own puppets, costumes, set pieces, and props! The space also includes a theater-themed toddler area with a small slide, as well as a functional animatronic chameleon, a sculpting station, and an interactive loft exploring elements of lighting and sound.

The Prop Shop will be open the week of Spring Break when Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are closed. And join them on Saturday, April 8, for The Prop Shop Pop Up at 9 am at Hanesbrands Theatre. They’ll be there with a pop-up maker activity , and then you can stay and enjoy RiverRun’s FREE Saturday Morning Cartoons!
