The Greensboro Montessori School is a toddler - 8th grade authentic, accredited Montessori school. Embracing Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy and ushering it to the 21st century child, GMS provides a challenging academic environment based on meeting each child’s needs as well as building their personal contribution and connection to the community.
GMS is committed to environmental education that leads to graduates who become life-long stewards for the earth. From a young age students work in the gardens weekly, learning about the parts of plants, the way food grows, tastes, and where it comes from. Throughout their years at GMS, students’ working knowledge of environmental science grows and their ability to use science and even connect it with other subjects is developed through hands-on experiments and real life implementation. The Middle School farm to table program is giving students experience in planning, cooking, research, and lessons in environmental as well as business sustainability. The sciences are integrated with reading, writing, math and the arts at every age level.
