We ask everyone to bring in their pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, dollars...whatever they can afford. We guarantee it will all go to a worthwhile cause! This awesome local organization does so much good in our community. The Brightside Project, a faith-based 501c3 non-profit organization, was launched in 2016 by a father-daughter team, Scott Lewis and Lisa Wallace. With more than 20 years of combined experience working with low-income and underserved families they decided to launch a non-profit that would reach out directly to children. Children in Columbiana County and surrounding communities in Northeast Ohio are hurting. They are struggling to see a bright future as they battle against hunger, poverty, drug abuse, neglect and complex emotional and mental health issues. The Brightside Project was launched to meet the needs of these children. We know that they have basic needs that need met with food and personal care items. We know they have social emotional needs that can be met through mentorship, friendship and love. We know that these children experience dark moments in life but, even in the darkest times, we can show them there is a brightside! Our mission is to equip and empower children to reach their full potential. | Prayer For whom are you praying today? How can we pray for you? We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "I pray your week is going well. The weather this week has been gorgeous in NE Ohio. Summer is here and here to stay for a bit. That is a good thing. Sometimes things can change like the weather. Sunday was supposed to be rainy most of the day – we did not get a drop. While we were expecting rain – we got sunny weather. Sometimes what we may expect isn’t exactly what we get." "That kind of leads me to the WORD for the week, in a roundabout kind of way, “ANCHOR.” “Anchor” symbolizes hope – steadfastness – calm and composure. Some things transpired this past weekend that caught me off guard. Although I thought my “anchor” was firmly planted in Jesus, I wasn’t expecting this. Sometimes things catch us off guard and we need to make sure our “anchor” holds. Our “anchor” is in Jesus. Free plug here – google The Anchor Holds by Ray Boltz (Elvis even sang it) and listen to it sometime this week. I know it will bless you. It has been running through my head for a couple of days. A line from the song is, "The “anchor” holds, in spite of the storm." I prayed and got in the Word and got my “anchor” once again firmly planted in my only hope, which is Jesus. I prayed the Holy Spirit would guide my thoughts only for good. Not immediately though – my first thoughts we not too good – yeah, I am human and fall short a lot of times – but then my Jesus kicked in and got me to secure my “anchor” once again. There are so many of you that may be going through your own storm, but I assure you, if you let Jesus be your “anchor” your storm will not be as strong, and your “anchor” will sustain you. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and let the Holy Spirit guide our path every day – all day – not just some of the time. My lesson was learned this week and I am thankful that the heritage I grew up in taught me this. I am still learning every day to stay grounded and keep my “anchor” secure. I hope this helps someone that reads this. You are not alone." “He is my rock and my salvation. He is my defender; I will not be defeated.” ~ Psalm 62:6 (NCV) ~~~ | Blessing Box Located by the Sanctuary doors, the Blessing Box is always available.
