The 2023 African Chamber of Commerce & Tourism- Afrikfest Honorees have been announced!

African Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (ACCTLV) announce the honorees of the Afrikfest Las Vegas Awards Gala, to be celebrated on September 23, 2023! This year's honorees were selected by a cross-section of esteemed and influential leaders in the African Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. Afrikfest is a 2-day event, happening September 22-23,2 023.

WHAT:

For the fifth year, ACCTLV honors outstanding businesses, organizations, and citizens at its annual Afrikfest Awards ach year. Celebrating innovation, business, and philanthropy tourism, this year's ceremony will honor the standout individuals, organizations, and initiatives that are making an impact in our communities and around the world. This year’s honorees are:

1. Advocates for Justice & Equality Award - Erika Washington, Make it Work Nevada
2. Spirit of Philanthropy Award - Wendell P Williams, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee
3. Global Cultural Ambassador Award - Esther Akoth Kokeyo (Akothee), Akothe Safari
4. Merit Award - Cubson Agbor Enokenwa, Cameroon Social and Cultural Association
5. Merit Award - Edmond Sarpong Ghana Association of Las Vegas
6. Spirit of Community Service Award - Gwen Chaney-Braimoh, Expertise Cosmetology Institute

African Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (ACCAT) provides several services for our members, including access to workshops, business development opportunities, resources, and advocacy. The Chamber promotes and enhances bilateral trade, economic development, investment opportunities, education, cultural exchange, and technology transfer between Las Vegas and Africa in the U.S Africa Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA). ABOUT Afrikfest
AfrikFest is a community-based, socio-cultural organization working for cohesion of cultural heritage among African communities in the U.S., Africa and around the world. Created by a few members of African community in Las Vegas, Nevada, the name “AfrikFest Las Vegas” (meaning African Festival in Las Vegas) was chosen by the committee. The AfrikFest Las Vegas is designed to recreate the cultural values among the peoples of Africa, to establish those values in the minds of our new generations residing outside the continent of Africa. AfrikFest Las Vegas is determined to showcase and promote some of our cultural heritage, aiming to be an annual fiesta that highlights the rich culture of the continent through our platform. Our ambition is to improve community cohesion and create business opportunities between the state of Nevada and other visiting state authorities. This festival will be celebrated annually.
