Ed. Note- Almost from the very first day, we felt that a newsletter was required to support the teachers in the classroom. The early issues have been lost, but here is the very first issue that we archived.

We have come a long way from the days of distributing the newsletter as a hard copy through quarterly mailings, but it is interesting to look back at our roots.

"Escapees from the dot.com bubble before it burst we had been inspired by a high school student to take our experience in training/education and apply it to peacemaking and social justice. Reach And Teach Book Store was born and our first product was CIVIO, a strategy card game that taught about the history of civil rights. We also got involved with an organization that brought children to Capitol Hill to encourage Congress to pass laws that would help the one in four kids who go to bed hungry every night. What if we created a curriculum that would help students understand the causes of poverty and hunger and how they could make a difference in other children's lives locally, nationally and internationally? That seemed like the perfect next project for us until... we discovered that such a curriculum already existed and it was wonderful! It was then that we realized that our role in the world wasn't just to create great learning materials but to also be treasure hunters and to share those treasures as widely as we could. The Kids Can Make A Difference curriculum is one of those treasures, a labor of love that has touched tens of thousands of children directly who have learned from the curriculum and taken positive action because of it, and then hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who have eaten a healthy meal as a direct result of kids making a difference.

Congratulations on 20 years of world-changing work!"

Much peace,
