LIC Community Boathouse Trip

10:00am – 5:30pm

Trip starts and ends at
LIC Boathouse
46-01 5th Street
Hunters Point, Queens

It's the LIC Boathouse's first public trip of 2015!

Participants will go south with the ebb current and visit Bushwick Inlet. Depending upon weather and river conditions and capability of the group, we may reach Brooklyn Bridge Park for a one hour shore break before returning with the flood current.

The trip may be changed, shortened or cancelled depending upon actual conditions. In case of poor weather, the go or no go decision will probably be made last minute at the dock so advance notice may not be possible.

Spring/Summer Exhibition Opening

3-6pm

Socrates Sculpture Park
Vernon Blvd and Broadway
Astoria, Queens

This spring four site-specific public art projects will transform the natural landscape of Socrates Sculpture Park, stretching and striking the park’s earth, plant life, and trees to create carefully devised and complex connections between the social, scientific, and artificial.

Featuring works by
Agnes Denes
Heide Fasnacht
Gabriela Albergaria
IK Studio
and a Broadway Billboard by Vera Lutter

As part of the opening, Agnes Denes and Socrates invite the public to become part of her vision, sowing and planting the pyramid to begin its lifespan. At the opening the public can also complete a special questionnaire, designed by the artist, which will be buried within an on-site time capsule.
