2017 Fall Kickoff this Sunday, Sept. 17.

LifeBridge family and friends: Join us from 9-10 this coming Sunday, Sept. 17, as we kick off our Fall schedule. We have opportunities for all ages to grow in their faith: Sunday School for the kids, Confirmation for our young people, youth group, young adults, and adult classes. We'd love to have you join us as we fill all the corners of our new building!

And, in case you haven't been around since we moved into our new church building, come join us any Sunday in our new space at 16614 Mueschke Rd. We love our new home, and would be delighted to have you join us. Bible Class is from 9-10, with worship starting at 10:10 each Sunday morning.

Flood report

Hurricane Harvey and all the rain connected caused widespread flooding throughout the Gulf Coast region. Most of our church members fared well, though we did have one member flood and a number who had family members with damage/loss. Thankfully, everybody we know was safe. And, our new building stood her first big test. Waters came close, but our new building was high and dry!

In the aftermath (and continuing on for a long time to come!) we have had abundant opportunities to serve our neighbors with the love of Christ. From tearing out sheetrock and flooring, to preparing meals, to welcoming families into our homes...there has been story after story of God's people at LifeBridge sharing Christ's love with those around them. As a church, we've had the opportunity to also help out a partner congregation: Iglesia Cristiano Emanuel, which suffered extensive damages in the floods. We look forward to continued opportunities to walk alongside those who suffered so much loss in recent days.

Over 20 of our youth headed out to the Lake for a few days of fun in the sun to close out the summer. A huge thank you to Brett Ellis and his parents for hosting and leading the retreat. Youth in grades 6th-12th continue to meet on Wednesday nights up at the church from 6:15-8:15. Any area youth are invited to join us. For more info, contact alyssa_hughes96@yahoo.com

Abba's House begins construction

LifeBridge is looking forward to hosting an exciting new ministry on our campus: Abba's House of Welcome, which will welcome in and care for refugee women and children as they first begin their new life here in the United States. They recently received official status as their own 501c3. While Abba's House and LifeBridge are two complete separate and distinct ministries, we look forward to a long-term partnership that will be a mutual blessing to both groups.

As you see from the pictures, dirtwork is being done and the forms are in place for the concrete. Over the course of the next few months, the initial home will be going up. When completed, the Meissner family will move in and prepare for the first family of refugees sometime early in the new year. Check out their website or follow them on Facebook.

Staff transitions

Wiechman contract

After a year serving alongside Pastor Michael and the good folks of LifeBridge, Pastor Steve Wiechman and his family recently transitioned out of ministry at LifeBridge to continue pursuing the call God has put on their heart to start Breathe Life Ministries. We are so grateful for their friendship and their service to our church, and we wish them God's very best in this next chapter of their life.

Upcoming Events

These are still in the planning stages, but two big events to tentatively mark on your calendar:

1. Fall Festival -- Sunday, Oct. 29. Join us for an outdoor worship service (weather permitting), a special commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, a BBQ/potluck lunch, and some fun activities for all ages. Worship will be at around 10. Check the LIfeBridge website as the event gets closer, where we'll share any changes or additional details.
2. Women's Fall Retreat -- Nov. 3-5 -- Ladies, if you are interested in our annual Fall Retreat, you can find out more details here.
3. Christmas in a Barn -- Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) at 5 p.m. And, of course, we plan on continuing our favorite tradition of the year, our 10th annual Christmas in a Barn. We'll gather again in our barns, sit on some hay and sing some carols, as we recall the entire reason for the celebration of Christmas -- the birth of our Savior, Jesus. Be watching for more details.
