After Streamside completes our urban outreach camps, we are blessed with some unique ministry opportunities during our busiest time of the year as we welcome both week long camps and the resumption of weekend retreats. An extremely special week of camp for us is Brooklyn Tabernacle's Royal Family KIDS Camp. This national network of camps is focused on meeting the needs of children, ages 6-12, in the foster care system who have been victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect. While at camp they are treated royally! For many of these kids, a week of camp is not only a new experience, but a life-changing event that transforms the way they view themselves and their futures. We also had the privilege of again hosting day camp for Girls Scouts from the Heart of PA. By participating in Streamside's nature education program, led by Nature Joe Meyers, each of these girls see and hear of God's marvelous works and His love for them through Jesus Christ. On Labor Day Weekend, we run our alumni camp for ages 16 and older. A mixture of new alumni along with others well advanced in age gather to share fun, good food, Streamside memories and great teaching from Philadelphia area pastors. This Labor Day also marked the return of New Canaan UMC's "tent city." This Brazilian group transforms one of our fields into a festive atmosphere of fellowship, worship and food. Altogether, 1034 guests enjoyed a late summer experience at Streamside.
