Ferns make great Mother's Day gifts! | At Whispering Pines. | Busy at GG We have been busy cleaning out the warehouse, and Rachel's parents and brother, Roger, came to help. Roger also volunteered to mow our lawn last week for the first lawn mowing of the spring. Thanks to the Longs for their help and support! This week, we began with our volunteer time at Whispering Pines, enjoying the spring weather and the friendly pups (and people, too) that reside there. Sue Weaver came on Tuesday to make some amazing stuffed peppers with our crew. Our classroom friends helped us work on a variety of projects inside and outside. We sure will miss them when they end their season with us next month! Our other excitement this week was receiving a special envelope of seeds from Rob Greenfield and the Live Like Ally Foundation. Help us spread some joy and appreciation. A simple card means more than you know! Grab a card, write a note, and then pop it into the appropriate envelope. More instructions are on the wall by the table. We will send off our missives of thanks in the beginning of May. | Coat & Clothing Drive Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room, anytime throughout the year! Let your friends and family know that we accept donations year-round. We are happy to take coats, clothes, shoes, purses and bags, jewelry, hats, gloves and mittens, scarves, and even small household items. Print the flyer or just show it to your server using your smartphone. | City Nature Challenge BioBlitz at Mill Creek Park April 26 | 7 - 9 pm April 27 | 7 - 9 am April 28 | Noon - 2 pm & 3 - 5 pm Join the City Nature Challenge BioBlitz at Mill Creek MetroParks. A BioBlitz is a biological inventory, essentially you find as many species as you can in one particular area. This year, iNaturalist is hosting the City Nature Challenge at the Mill Creek Preserve (2668 W. Western Reserve Rd. in Canfield) to discover the biodiversity that resides there. Come out any or all days and times of the BioBlitz at the Preserve. All you need to do is take as many photos of as many species and upload them to iNaturalist for experts to identify. On Friday, 4/26 we will be focusing on insects and frogs. Saturday, 4/27 the focus is on birds.
